anyone used trimming machines, are they any good?

Recommended Posts

... But question. is there a reason it needs to be trimmed before hand. is it different to getting  dried and cured bud with leafs attached, and picking out the good bit to smoke?

(seriously asking) does leaving the leaves on while drying and/or curing make the other buds to doing it without leaves attached?

IMO, in short, no.

Some people trim whilst wet. I do some of my manicure wet, but most dry and have never noticed a difference. Shade leaves, the big leaves have sfa active ingredient and can be a bit harsh when smoked, so I trim and biff them. The sugar trim, the crystally leaf, I trim and keep to make hash with. But I haven't noticed any difference in the end product when trimmed wet or dry.

OK point taken, I probably have never smoked trimmed buds, and I quite like smoking leaf.

so, stuck in my ways, maybe I WILL try. But question. is there a reason it needs to be trimmed before hand. is it different to getting  dried and cured bud with leafs attached, and picking out the good bit to smoke?

agree with merl

i trim dry , def quicker to trim wet & prob a better end product

i think treating your trim as you would bud gives you a better extraction result imho

in saying that , many would debate that these days with more & more extractions

being done & more info coming to light

Thanks for that, I have some arthritis and my hands are not good so thought with a bit of luck I could find a way of cheating and get it done easier.  My hands are one reason that Ive got 3 varieties that mature at different times supposedly W6-7 / 7-8/ 8-9  to try to spread the workload out a bit although that creates another problem of having to find a way to dry each one  separately one outside the tent  while lights are still on in the tent. Well I'll see how I go with all then.

Once again thanks for the advice much appreciated.

You can put the drying plants into cardboard boxes to dry in the room ...or chop the stems and put into a box ...,just needs some breather holes

In the sides of the box ,and leave in the room to dry ...looks like there is plenty of room in the tent for it.

There was a guy on the boards a wile ago that was selling something like these.

i would have to have a pack or two

of band aids sitting next to me

while using this...

and a roll of gaffa tape  when i lose a finger!......

i must agree, trimming is a pain,

but the reward is worth it,

at the start i tend to to be real carefull, gotta get that bud lookin the part,

....but after 4hrs+  they start to look a bit shaggy lol

Harry you asked earlier about difference curing with or without leaf attached .?

I would imagine the leaf aroma would possibly effect the smell and taste of the bud if left to cure together .

Leaf always a harsher taste to buds.

Who knows maybe the leaf ends up a bit better but I would keep the leaf separate.

But each to there own .
