anyone used trimming machines, are they any good?

Recommended Posts

At some stage I will be confronted with having to trim my first crop and already its not something I am looking forward to in part due to it being tedious and time consuming but primarily because my hands are not real good and its going to be a difficult task that will probably take literally forever. I was contemplating trying to get one of those electric trimmers I saw on ebay, has any one used one and do they do a good job or not?

For vast quantities they do make the tedious task quicker, BUT, they merely trim the leaf level with the bud and do not really manicure nor remove the stem shaft.

Also there is a large loss of trichomes as the bud is tumbled over and over in the process with mechanical trimmers.

Let's face it trimming a crop is a bastard job and can be a long tedious task, but if you want it done right, do it by hand. IMO

Thanks for that, I have some arthritis and my hands are not good so thought with a bit of luck I could find a way of cheating and get it done easier.  My hands are one reason that Ive got 3 varieties that mature at different times supposedly W6-7 / 7-8/ 8-9  to try to spread the workload out a bit although that creates another problem of having to find a way to dry each one  separately one outside the tent  while lights are still on in the tent. Well I'll see how I go with all then.

Once again thanks for the advice much appreciated.

smell/flav has got to be around 50% of the pleasure of smoking / consuming

ever looked into aromatherapy or thought about your body's reaction

to the smell of your fav meal being cooked when you got home from work

smell of coffee ( if coffee drinker ) in the coffee shop

makes ya mouth water just thinking about it , a saying , but true , don't ya reckon

for some it's the smell of paint or a sharpie , your reaction to rotten eggs , smelly feet , the missus farts

Eccentric i have seen a couple types one is like a tumbler i wouldnt recommend that one it would knock off all the resin, i think the bigger industrial leaf trimmers work by rolling a branch or bud over the grill and it sucks the leaf in and trims it off might be better for you,

You could always use spring loaded pruning scissors if your having problems with old arthur and holding the sissors push some soft rubber hose over the handles to make it easier to grip

OK point taken, I probably have never smoked trimmed buds, and I quite like smoking leaf.

so, stuck in my ways, maybe I WILL try. But question. is there a reason it needs to be trimmed before hand. is it different to getting  dried and cured bud with leafs attached, and picking out the good bit to smoke?

(seriously asking) does leaving the leaves on while drying and/or curing make the other buds to doing it without leaves attached?
