n an unusual but attention getting demonstration, cannabis legalization activists operating under the hashtag (heh) #feed420 have succeeded in growing marijuana in the flower beds and open spaces of downtown London for at least the last three months resulting in many nearly fully grown plants.

“In an ideal world I would like to see medicinal users not being sent to prison for everyday use.”

The full name of the group, “Feed The Birds,” has been scattering cannabis under the auspices of feeding the birds of downtown London.

Campaigners claim three foot high cannabis plants have been growing along the South Bank and by the Tower of London for months, with some still going unnoticed.

Finn Hemmingway, spokesman for Feed The Birds, said he believes there are as many as 2,000 people scattering seeds across the UK in support of the campaign.

He said: “Some of them are still there. The oldest are three months old and were planted eight to 10 weeks ago.

While this might seem illegal, it’s the cultivation of cannabis in the UK that’s against the law, not the simple scattering of the seeds. Supporters of the campaign are seeking to bring about awareness of medical marijuana users being sent to jail for using a product they see as life changing.

On Twitter, the campaign appears to be catching on. However, it remains to be seen if such a campaign could catch on the States where simple possession of cannabis seeds remains illegal and therefore the seeds are more valuable.

“The war on drugs is a catastrophic failure, and I think that cannabis growing openly on the streets of London emphasizes how ludicrous our drug laws are. Putting a human in a prison cell for using a plant is the crime.”

Back in the early eighties' there was pot growing in the gardens outside the police stations in Dandenong, Doveton and Springvale , for a few years running there would be plants growing

some got to 4ft before the pigs got on to them and ripped them out,

haha, good stuff, always thought of doing this sort of thing, but just random suburbia.

 

I was in scotland and according to locals in this small village good mushrooms grew at the front of the police station , but they were native shrooms, and probably not "illegal" in a sense.
