Hi GQ, I'm doing the same as you as far as growing my own meds. I assume you want to make cannabis oil for meds? The best that I am aware of is to use sweet sue's bio bomb recipe using extracted oil (I extract with ISO) and at a ratio of 1:20 (1 part canna oil mixed thoroughly with 15 parts coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil and 5 parts lecithin oil) this helps more of the canna oil available when mixed with these carrier oils.

A ratio of 1:20 is recommended and usually lasts for about 4 hours so you would be looking at a dose rate every 4 hours...It isn't any good to increase that ratio really except perhaps to go to 1:15 ratio for strong pain treatment.

capsules can also be used as suppositories and several patients do that eg for arthritis pain etc

I recommend you check out how to make pure oil. I use a slow cooker, a capsule machine and 1mg sterile syringes along with buchner funnel and flask etc etc.. there is quite a lot of equipment to get in place and I'm happy to provide you with a list of supplies you will need.

All the best!

HI GQ when it comes to medicating your daughter do lots of reading on the web, look for and join fb groups that are about, there are a lot of ppl that are dealing with what u are looking for.

When it comes to PTSD and pain i my self smoke eat cannabis to help with my issues, i find smoking the best for the PTSD, when it comes to pain it diff for all of us we have to try and see what works best for u, and that will be same with your daughter, some will work better than others it just finding that rite one...

Im new to all this to GQ.

I had a few Grand Mal Seizures in late 2015 and after countless appointments with specialists and going through all the tests and finally when my JAK2 and blood count test came back they diagnosed me with Polycythaemia (Rubra) Vera. I'm on blood thinners and a few other meds which just makes me sick and the side affects are just making thing worse.

I cant comment on dosage or anything like that but as Ozzy said have a search around and read up as much as you can on the subject. And dosage effect differs from person to person same with the strain, its all about trial error realy.

Im still on the fence about all this talk about CBD vs THC and which is better for Epilepsy. My search for what works for me will be a long and exciting journey :)

All the best with you daughter GQ.

OMD.

I'm happy to help as I can but I've only gained my knowledge from the internet and from other users and patients so you really need to research and make your own decisions. Now, with that disclaimer out the way, Here is a link to a 2014 study on CBD -enriched medical cannabis for intractable paediatric epilepsy http://www.seizure-journal.com/article/S1059-1311(16)00005-4/abstract?cc=y=

Here is the method used, note the ratio of 20:1 using olive oil and treated for 3months to 6 months:

Methods

A retrospective study describing the effect of cannabidiol (CBD)-enriched medical cannabis on children with epilepsy. The cohort included 74 patients (age range 1–18 years) with intractable epilepsy resistant to >7 antiepileptic drugs. Forty-nine (66%) also failed a ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulator implantation, or both. They all started medical cannabis oil treatment between 2–11/2014 and were treated for at least 3 months (average 6 months). The selected formula contained CBD and tetrahydrocannabinol at a ratio of 20:1 dissolved in olive oil. The CBD dose ranged from 1 to 20 mg/kg/d. Seizure frequency was assessed by parental report during clinical visits.

Results

CBD treatment yielded a significant positive effect on seizure load. Most of the children (66/74, 89%) reported reduction in seizure frequency: 13 (18%) reported 75–100% reduction, 25 (34%) reported 50–75% reduction, 9 (12%) reported 25–50% reduction, and 19 (26%) reported <25% reduction. Five (7%) patients reported aggravation of seizures which led to CBD withdrawal. In addition, we observed improvement in behavior and alertness, language, communication, motor skills and sleep. Adverse reactions included somnolence, fatigue, gastrointestinal disturbances and irritability leading to withdrawal of cannabis use in 5 patients.

This is the abstract, check out the pdf for the full study.

Hope this helps :)
