Cheeky Whitefly.

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

It's been about a week since I've first posted.

The plant itself looks to me as if it's coming along nicely, except for one thing. That cheeky little thing sitting on the plant thinking he owns the place. If I'm not mistaken it looks like a whitefly? Any ways of getting rid of them that worked for you? I seen somewhere that Ladybugs will help, so I might try that.

Keen for your input, cheers.

Hey Jay,

It's only the one? wow, I get them in swarms lol To kill them I usually use pyrethrum spray but that's for an infestation.

Now, little flying bugs are attracted to the colour yellow, you can get bug strips which are a yellow strip of plastic covered in a sticky substance.

Here's a link via Ebay, but most hardware stores stock the same thing or similar http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/like/291989934917?chn=ps

Being that your plant is small, hanging one near the plant and a flick of the plant will dislodge the little bastard, he'll naturally, well he 'shud' naturally fly to the yellow surface and get stuck. I have these yellow strips hanging in my space.

P.S. Don't let your hairy arms touch the sticky, its a bastard to get off I can tell ya that for sure lol

I'm pretty sure it was the only one, hopefully they all don't start swarming in on me. I was taking photos for a time lapse kind of thing and as I was sorting I caught him out the corner of my eye.

That sounds like a genius idea, might order a couple before he starts to call his buddies.

I mean, I'm not looking to get a wax anytime soon hey. Haha.

Cheers Merl1n!
