South West of WA is nice, but living over here you do feel very isolated, its an effort to get over east and all your friends from the east never visit, haha

especially if you dont live in Perth.

I used to travel 6 hours to get to Perth, to get a plane to Sydney.

I'd head to Denmark in Western Australia. Never been there but looks beautiful and eco-friendly - their wind generation is great. WA might get more relaxed soon hopefully.

Also Nannup in WA is like an unspoken Nimbin, lots of legal hemp growers in the area, laid back community.

Saw a doco about cattle farmer moving the operation to King island.

 

Can't remember exact temps but for where it is it has surprisingly Good all year climate.

King island would be great and there's always a possibility of selling organic kelp meal on the side ... apparently it just washes up on the shore. Could also snack on a bit of cheese while everything was occurring.

I have grown in two states Vic and NSW. I prefer the Vic climate as I had it fine tuned to my plants. Or should I say my plants were fine tuned to the Vic climate. So far NSW has been suck it and see. NSW water where I am is shit ph of 8 constantly and you can smell the chlorine coming off the water as it flows from the tap sometimes. Vic water was excellent for potting mix with a ph of 7 constantly.

There are a few companies doing kelp meal products (dried and ground seaweed), which is used mainly in industrial farming as a natural fertiliser, but for those on this board ... mainly by organic, soil cannabis growers. It is magic stuff.

 

The bull kelp around southern Australia is brown kelp, which is considered to be the most beneficial for growing plants. Some of the companies doing this are large scale and others are quite small ... in any case, it might be nice to go for a walk on the beach and make a little cash on the side - along as it's not a regulation nightmare. Aussie kelp is very clean compared to Northern Hemisphere kelp, so maybe there is something in it for the future. Some links that might be of interest:

I've used Natrasol and fair dinkum products ... would recommend both.

 

... I reckon a guaranteed way to make megabucks would be to open a nori farm in southern Australian waters. Nearly all of it is made in Japan, China and South Korea ... which don't have the cleanest water. There is a fair degree of technical skill involved ... but if it could be done, it would be great and healthy.
