Australians rally against child abuse

Hundreds of people driving cars, trucks and motorbikes protested against child abuse by joining a convoy which rumbled from the Gold Coast to Brisbane.

 

Organiser Hetty Johnston, an independent candidate for a Queensland Senate position at the federal election, said the rally was a warning to paedophiles that justice would catch up with them.

 

However, Ms Johnston warned that although there was enormous support for action against those who sexually preyed on children, the law was letting children down.

 

The rally, dubbed "Rollin Thunder", was held three days after police revealed they had cracked apart an international paedophile network that was operating in Australia.

 

Ms Johnston, founder of the child protection group Bravehearts, said the response showed that people were demanding better protection for children.

 

"The message that came through today was that we need in Australia a royal commission into child abuse and the other message was that the court system, the justice system is failing to properly deal with paedophiles," she said.

 

"The police are catching them ... but the Department of Public Prosecutions is letting them down ... the legislation is letting them down because the penalties aren't harsh enough and there's no emphasis on rehabilitation.

 

"These people are just getting released and they are harming kids again."

 

She said about 1,000 vehicles joined the convoy, including motorcycle group Bikers United Against Child Abuse.

 

Police estimated the convoy began with between 150 and 200 motorbikes, about 30 cars and 10 large truck prime movers.

 

Police said they had no final numbers because more vehicles joined in as the convoy travelled towards Brisbane.

Good to see so many people standing up and saying they aren't happy, it's about time penalties got a hell of a lot stricter, and rehabilitation was made compulsory for all peodophiles. Six of them have finally done one decent thing though, hope a few more do themselves in, the sooner the better as they have no place in any society that cares for children. I can't imagine any punishment severe enough to fit their crime, it is just so sickening to try to comprehend the crime they have committed in the first place.

I have been a members of several groups dedicated to taking down snuff servers and I think it's pathetic it has taken them this long to take these steps it has been a bigger and bigger probelm every year since the internet became an eveeryday thing for people and now i am afraid to say it is too late for them to completely win the war against it on the net ( personaly I belive it is the responsibility of an ISP to be watching for these things I do it on all the networks I manage so it's not that hard for someone to setup and run a filter )

 

I personaly wish everyone of them had to face up to their actions and not take the cowards way out, so the world would know them for the sick perverts they are killing themselfs is getting them out of a life of shame and being someones bitch in gaol, while the victims and victims families just have to accept that the person will never pay for their actions . being in my job I see all the sites that get visited buy some people and I must say that it happens far to often for it to be viewed as a small probelm I see all kinds of keywords relating to " younger pornography " you don't even need to see what they see , the names and referances for allot of those places are simply just vile , the shocking thing is that it tends to come from higher levels not your average employee,

 

I have fought snuff groups, and server farms for years with groups buy destroying servers and or infecting possible files and attachments with virri so those that did decide to view the page would be infected and in most cases unable to accsess their internet till they got it fixed , unfourtunatly allot of them just open up again at a different place with the same sick information So I am glad the Government is FINALY taking allot more of an initiative although 5 years ago this battle wouldn' t be so uphill

Thanks for that Pickle, and what a list of ......., I just can't think of an appropriate word to use for paedophiles, sat here for ages and came to the conclusion that there is no word in the English language evil or low enough to describe the things they are, I don't even think of them as people, just parasites that prey on the young of the human race.
