Hi Guys, What a great site!!! I hope someone can help here. I have been having the odd puff for about 6 months (after a stroke) and a mate gave me 2 seeds to whack in the ground (dunno what type) which I did. One seed came up and is about 2 inches high. I will transplant it into a bigger pot soon, but how do I clone it? and if it works out not to have any buds, can I just use the leaves??? I`m 45 and have never been into this scene in the past, but I guess its never to late. I used to drink a fair bit, but now have a couple of rum and cokes and a little puff to relax me...It`s great...I wish I had paid more attention to the guys who were smokers a long time ago! Thanks guys....Take care now! :scratchin

Welcome to OzStoners mate! You need to wait until you have a few nodes, I'd let it grow another couple of weeks before cloning. Some people take clones to actually sex the plant first, but you'll know soon enough in flower if it's a male. And yes you can smoke male bud, but it's nowhere near as fantastic as girlie buds! I won't smoke anything less :P

You should get bud, as long as you give it a decent mix of nutes, a nice sunny spot and well draining soil if you are outdoors. Take a good look around the grow forums, you'll get a good idea on both indoor and outdoor growing :D

You can use leaf, but it's shit to smoke. Heads are what you need, and they aren't as hard to grow as some ppl think :thumbsup

As you are fairly new to mj you will still get a bit bent from the leaves but try not to tax the plants too much or you will end up with a poor yield, leaves produce and store nutrients for the plants use. With two seeds you have a fair chance of getting at least one female but I would keep an eye open for a few more to start off, as hermaphrodites also have to be considered with unknown seed.

If you have any questions just ask, don't worry about asking "stupid" questions either, no question is stupid if you don't know the answer, don’t risk your plants by not asking.

Thanks for the replies guys. :smoke so to clone a plant I just cut a bit of the plant off and stick it in a pot? I bought myself a little brass bong today. Its really small and easy to hide, cant wait to give it a rattle. Is osmocote ok to chuck in the pot when i transplant the seedling and can it get to much sun??? I live in Melb. Thanks again Guys!!! :smoke

Get yourself some rockwool cubes from your local hydro shop, as well as some clonex. Make sure you have a clean, sharp pair of scissors or a scalpel. You'll need to soak your rockwool in PH adjusted water, you can get testing kits from your hydro shop too. Or, you can just soak them in water straight from the tap, although it's better to have your water ph adjusted first. The trick with rockwool is to make sure it's not too wet. So, squeeze a fair bit out of the cube, and try not to mangle it :D

Take your plant, and make sure you take your cutting below an internode. Topping it in your case might be best, so just take it from at least 3 or 4 branches or nodes down the main stem. Dip the end in your cloning gel, and pop it into your cube about 2 inches in. You will need to mist daily with water, at least once or twice. try not to soak your rockwool with water, though it does need to be a little damp, as clones will only take the water through the leaves at this stage anyway. If you can put them into a humidicrib of some sort, or make one, even better. It will take usually 2-3 weeks, once roots show, you can slowly introduce nutrients.

This is a bit of a rushed reply, I'm on my way out, so if anyone can contribute here, please do!! :yingyang

You could, but I'd recommend something that has all the ingredients your plant will need. Now, I'm an indoors girl, so if some of you outdoors guys want to give some advice here, it would be muchly appreciated! :P I know you'll need a decent nutrient, and I'm not sure exactly what I'd recommend, so I'll leave this one to the outdoor specialists :D

You can always rely on nitrosoil. i have used this alot outdoors and it's worked well for me, in the later stages i like to use a little bit of thrive feed , that stuff will get your buds rockin, with the grow im starting next week im going to experiment a little , ill keep you updated on results!
