new indoor grower

Recommended Posts

I have the same tent and run 600w in a cooltube which is plenty but my ideal setup in that space would be 2 x 400w  but not very practical.

I am not sure you want to gamble on the LED unless you spend a couple of thousand or more.  Lower end LED"s like Mars have mixed results and seem to be just ok at best.

MH/HPS is your best way to go, They are cheap and they grow solid nugs..  Heat may be an issue but 1 x 1000w cooltube setup would be my recommendation.

I've not long started and can give you a couple of things that caught me out.
Everyone talked about "the stretch". I thought this was vegging and how very I wrong I farking was.
When you turn to 12/12 the plants will at least double in size(indica) some farker will grow 4 or 5 times.sativa
If you are in a tent you can see the problems.
I have what a mate called a kush, which is a Indica, it was actually a Lemon Haze (sativa)and I nearly had to rip the fcuker out because it was sooo out of control. It's bent and twisted, then tied up then tied down and one or two of the big branches lap around the tent. lol no shit.
Really try and work out what type of plant you have and what it's stretch will be.

My second grow is nearly finished.
My mate who helped me said after the you pick the first two plants from the first grow, leave a few little buds and growth on, change your nutes and then switch back to 20/0 or 22/0.
I was worried but low and behold they took off. I will get a much higher yield from then in a shorter time than what if I just stuck new clones in.
I will regrow every plant from now on. Fark all fuss.

On that topic of nutrients, you may not neccessarily need to use as directions state on the back. My first grow I got nute burn so I halved the A and B and the PK 13 14 but kept the organic Monsta bud and Oi Tonic at full. Far faster veg and I will get a heaps better yield. This just from the two regrows and that could be why.( I also write another thread about it)

FLUSH if you are adding nutes to coco for about a week before harvest.

Hope these little things I've learnt early will help you because no one told me.

A big yielding strain may help if u go LED because the genetics will produce something of reasonable size compared to using say the 1000w MH/HPS

the biggest problem is were are in summer and HID lights put out a lot of heat especially the 1000w, if u don't have sufficient cooling or u vent around the inside of your house or are growing in a garden shed u may think twice

i haven't used a 1000w light in many years but i had one in a open bedroom and it produced a shit ton of heat i found a neat little trick tho that was to mount a small 12cm Sunon fan behind the lamp holder on a Adjust-a-Wing so it blew over the bulb this reduced the temps in the room a little but i think cooltubes have advanced in this line of technology i just haven't used a 200mm model for such a light yet

i personally think a 1000w light in a 1.2m tent will haul ass even if u make mistakes a light of this size will still yield great, the 1000 watters are known to produce big fat rock sold buds

if u pick the LED over the HID u will need some form of heating in winter so that may add to your electricity bill, the LED won't put off enough heat in winter to warm the tent while your venting it

either way there are pro's and con's

going HID u have noisy exhaust fans

going LED the lights cooling fans are loud
