Advice, ideas and knowledge sought, moving a big plant

Recommended Posts

So as we normally do we look at houses on a whim and find something and decide to move, problem, what to do with the big girl i have in full flight out the back?

the move would be made difficult by the fact that the wine barrel i have it in has no arse in it, can a chop the tap root without much problem? How far has that thing gone down? good soil under it and underground water that we use to water with. Would the tap root have down meteres, 10's of metres or sure not hundreds?

I have an idea of the top of my bed to use a truck put a tarp or something similar flat on the ground, tip the whole pot on its side and wrap it up like a dead body, bloody hell im buggered just thinking about it.

Or do i scrap it and do my first indoor over winter to keep up with our needs till i can go outdoor again next year?

The house were looking at is perfect. Better to grow than this place and 200 bux a week cheaper rent and right in the middle of 2 major towns my partner does work in, so if i can make it happen in the end it will be a sweet place to further my canna education.

Thoughts, laughs or sniggers welcome lol

Howdy Jagged, a slight dilemma on your hands. I think if you can slide some material to slide underneath the barrel you will be able to move it fairly safely. Which material you choose and which method to lift it will be the conundrum!! Plants that have taproots are carrots, turnips etc and MJ doesn't have many similarities with those plants If you look at their roots. If you could somehow slide a tarp underneath and load it onto a pallet I reckon 3/4 fit blokes could load it onto a 3tonne truck or a sprinter/courier van.

MMMMMMMMMM gonna be a pain, i was with you Reggie until you said slide something underneath it and then the more i read i was like yup ohhhh yep awwwwwno yep and then add how do i get the pallet from the back of an acre block to the truck which cant get into the back yard hahahahaha the more i think about it the more i think i might like to give indoor a go for winter and have buds in 12 weeks same as the big girl roughly but then i can keep growing till outdoor season

I dunno if i can bring myself to rip it out and juice it, she is gonna be a monster :(

If this other joint didnt tick so many boxes i wouldnt even contemplate moving till may

What's the harvest going to be roughly from her? Depends on how much she would pull, for me personally.

There will always be good places to rent that are safe and secure to grow in(yard etc). I suppose the question for you is how much do you value this harvest. If it were me, I wouldn't be trying to shift her to the new place either.

The main root mass in the barrel is plenty to keep her healthy, breaking off what's in the ground underneath won't cause any real problems unless she's in mid flower.

Flipping her on her side on a tarp could be workable.  Flip, then gently roll the lot up like a big joint, but folding the flap under the bottom of the barrel a couple of times while you go.  Stand her back up and slide a trolley (assume you'll have one if you're moving house), and wheel her into the truck.  Tarp will hide her appearance, but will also make her sweat a bit and cause a few bruises, but you've got time for her to bounce back before flowering.

I reckon a big established plant is worth a lot of effort and hassle rather than chopping her down.

Im assuming that jagged is referring to his Pakistani which is fair size larger than the 'seedlings' that the school kids on here are posting. I'd be making sure that plant was coming traveling with me, such a waste otherwise imo!
