Police finding bush grows

Recommended Posts

Hey guys wasn't sure we're to post this. Hoping someone has been in my situation before.

My grow spot was found recently after a fire went through the area. Firees had obviously come across the spot after they came through the bush putting out spot fires. My plants actually survived, but a week later there was a ribbon trail through the bush leading to my spot and then my plants had been ripped up. I'm certain that firees left the trail for the cops then gave them the call telling them were to go.

So fast forward 3 months and I've set another spot up in the same gully but away from the original spot. I put two pots down there. I went back a week later to find the old spot had been completely dismantled, chicken wire taken down and rolled up into a pile so the spot couldn't be used again. One of the pots that I had put down there had been taken but the other one left there. It's odd because I thought they would have taken both pots, but now I'm under the assumption that the cops might have rigged a camera up to film the area.

My question is has anyone had a similar thing happen, and what are the chances they have set a camera up to catch me? The original spot that got torn down only had 5 plants there a few ft tall. Would the police go to such lengths to try catch me after they found my second grow?

Sorry for the lengthy post. Really appreciate anyone chiming in on their own experience in this type of situation.

Cheers.

Who knows ,but the cops probably see that area as a known growing place now so I wouldn't be surprised if it gets checked again . I know the cops in my area check around local waterways each year looking for plants and I'm sure they'd check any known area whether near creeks or not.

If I were you I'd find a spot nowhere near where the others were

When they found one of my plots they kept it under surveillance for 5-6 weeks from memory, until they managed to get me on a hidden camera.  Difference was that they left everything in place for that time, and only ripped it all out once they had their evidence.  My understanding is that getting a pic of you after removing the plants should be insufficient evidence for a conviction unless you admit to it, as they don't have you tending the plants, so you could have just found a disturbed bit of bush and been curious or something.  So it's highly unlikely that they would put a cam in after tearing it all down.  But they may have done so beforehand, so that's all you need to worry about, probably, and if you visited during that interim time you probably should be worried if there's the slightest chance the local coppers could figure out who you are from a pic.

My bush grows now, I keep a trail cam on the plot to hopefully indicate any intruders, and always, as in always, wear complete cover from head to toe, including gloves and a hat with a hunting veil over the face, whenever I'm around the plot.  Also look for signs of activity, and anything that doesn't belong on trees etc that could be a camera.  I have pulled and moved a few plots at the slightest sign of being compromised since, which is why I now keep my plants in pots buried in the ground.

If they found your 2nd grow, they would watch it, not the old one.  It does sound safe to assume that it was the cops that tore down the 1st grow though.

Best of luck

Wow wasn't expecting such great responses.

SirPsycho - thank u in particular. Which state are you in mate? Very good point about going covered head to toe. I'll do that from now on. I've been looking out for cameras and anything that's been moved or out of place. Did you get busted in the end? I don't have a record and I'm not known to the local police. Does the camera you use have night vision?

Cheers

I did indeed get done, and I have nobody to blame but myself as I knew the plot was compromised.  I was stupid enough to assume that if the cops knew about it they would have ripped it up after 3-4 weeks, so when I came back after staying away for that long and they were all still there, I got complacent.  I had started working on culling out males and picking the girls I wanted to keep, intending to move them, but I should have been more careful

Yep, mine has night vision, gets the odd cool animal shot at night.  Setting up for accurate detection and minimal false triggers is tricky, you need unobstructed views of the target area, minimal stuff in the area that moves in the wind, and it has to be anchored to something that doesn't move in the wind.  Add the fact that you don't want it to be obviously visible and it gets difficult.

I wear my bow hunting gear, can get a bit hot at times though.
