Help Scraps Out

Howdy all,

This year one of my girls 'Strawberry Cough' has been causing a few headaches. For some reason it has now flowered twice already throughout the season. The first time was probably around a month ago but I decided to hit it with some high N ferts to encourage it back to veg, which seemed to do the trick. However in the last kind of 5 days or so I've noticed it go to flower again, it's driving me nuts.

Interestingly enough though one of my other 3 girls also went to flower around the same time Strawberry cough did a month ago. It seems to be doing fine now though and hasn't gone back to flower again like strawberry has.

Which leads me to wonder why this has happened. I would question light from houses and surrounding suburbs if it were them reverting back to veg from flower however the other way round baffles me. And why 2 of the three did it is also strange....maybe something to do with soil mix or stress from something or just shit seeds?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks all.

Yo,

Once in a while you might get a strain that pre-flowers too much too early and gets way too into flower-mode in veg-light hrs.

I've had it on 2 random plants over the years.

**One was a strain I wanted real bad. Only had one seed germinate, female, took 20 cuts, then she pre-flowered in veg and went into a lame flower-mode, she went all spindly and shitty , i then attempted to flower her under 12/12 anyways , the buds went real shitty as fuck, so I made a few seeds in desperation with a kick ass male I had at the time ....the seeds unfortunately came out the same, it was hereditary for her. (seeds are not available for anyone for a prank on an asshole friend either - went in the bin long time ago).

Another time is way too weird to talk about in detail, however same sorta thing happened to another girl i had. I just barely managed to get one seed to germ and stay alive of another strain (real kick ass gear), took many cuts and flowered them, then took cuts and flowered the mother and most of the cuts too. After a year or so the last cut I owned of her started to pre-flower in veg real bad almost like flowering, same as the first one. I was worried but looked after her (for the sake of keeping the strain alive,  i thought i would try) and managed to bring her back to good health and normal veg growth after a few weeks.

I kept that cut for a long time afterwards (trippy thing was with her i found out why it happened and you wouldn't believe me even if i told ya) and it just seemed like an obstacle in keeping her for years. Point is I had her for a year in clone form before she went funny.

So I can't compare the second occurrence to the first one. Different Animal altogether as I say.

I would abort the strawberry cough if she is a strain you've never flowered before.

To save yourself wasting more time on her as a source of potential future stock.

IMO plants that flower all funny are a one-off genetic fuck-up.

unless you can get her stable over summer for at least 4-6 weeks. No flowering visible at all.

As for the other one pre-flowering too much at the same time a month ago, I'd be inclined to put it down to coincidence, or she was jumping in early a month back and jumped back out for the big run.

Finally with lights from other houses, street lamps and the rest of man-made suburban lights in summer. Ive made a shade before, i put it up over the plants at 6pm erryday. took it down at 6am erryday. 2 metres by 4 metres area.

Didn't need walls like a room that blocks out light or anything like that, the plants were directly under a street lamp and light shone right on em. As long as the plant had a 'blanket of visible shadow'(*edit) over them , from the street lamp, she flowered perfectly, rite on. Honestly I sat at home the whole grow just to put the giant shade up and take it back down again. The trick worked.

The stars and moon don't affect them.

Hope you kick on with it.

The 'blanket of visible shade" sounds strange.

I've had plants reveg with sweet FA light leaks.

sounds strange, so more simple than that.

the shadow is all i meant. see the blanket of shadow from the shade. there, simple. understood now.

you can see the shadow. just had a moment i couldnt think of the word i was lookin for. happens

Thanks for the replies,

Here's a few photos to help diagnose the issue. From left to right its Purple #1 (doing just fine), CBD Critical Cure (doing OK, did flower but has since reverted and seem OK) and Strawberry Cough which is the problem child and has now gone to flower for the second time.....but once again looking at it today almost seems to be heading back to veg.

They were started early September outdoors. I tried to look up the light hours online but couldn't find them. I naturally assumed this wouldn't be a problem and would result in bigger plants due to the days only getting longer. Now I'm wondering whether there was that required amount of light to keep them in Veg?

Hit it with high N fert again just to try and get it to Veg, is definetely maxed out on nitrogen for the moment. Understand it's almost certainly going to hermi in which case she's going to have to be moved or killed.....get to that when it happens.

For now can anyone shed any light on why this is happened and if there's anything I could possibly still do?

Thanks again for the replies.

Cheers

looking at the strawberry cough

yea i had it like that too

on both

one came good before flowering actually started, which was the 2nd one , but literally was stunted and took all summer long to revert outdoors.

the other was indoors on 18/6 and didnt revert, the plant was completely ruined during flower, just a one off genetic mishap.

i have no idea what your will do. wish i could give you a final diagnosis. but i cant
