Hyper fan Climate Controller - Anyone have one? And Q about another in

Recommended Posts

Summer is coming!

Hyper fan Climate Controller: http://www.hydroexperts.com.au/Hyper-Climate-Control-Dual-Fan-Controller-Operate-Both-Inlet-Outlet-Fans

I'm having a serious look at this but i have some concerns/questions:

For reference sake here's their features advertised(and i suppose all the pro's of this):

  • Extremely simple to use. Just set the two dials and forget!
  • Lowest energy use of any fan/filter/controller system
  • Thermostatically changes the fans RPM/speed as needed
  • Constantly maintains the optimal day time temperature
  • Fan speed falls back to custom set RPM on cold nights
  • Operates 2 Hyper Fans at once (Inlet & outlet fans)
  • All cords, plugs and adaptor cables supplied.
  • Plug & Play
  • This controller is designed for Hyper Fans or Silenced Hyper Fans only

The concerns are:

The highest temperature setting on it is 34c and as anyone knows we are sure to get more than a few days where ambient temperatures exceed that here. I know this is hard to answer without owning or using one)But what happens when the ambient temp exceeds that 34c? does it just ramp the fans to full and render the controller kinda usless "climate" controller? Or does it still try to maintain as low speed as possible and or neg pressure?

Another one is the controller uses proprietary connectors to control the fans and will control hyper fans only. I guess to offset this con: if one looked hard enough these connectors could be found at jarcar or the like and the fans have a 5yr warrenty.

Im also unable to find out if this controller will also try and maintain Negative air pressure in the grow space like some other controllers, if anyone knows that would be awesome.

And yea, HYPER FANS ONLY so no connecting off brand fans with normal 240v power cords, or maybe some other brushless fans use the same type of connectors?

There is also the SMScom Twin Controller PRO, twin fan speed temp controller: http://www.hydroexperts.com.au/SMSCom-Pro-Twin-Fan-Speed-Temp-Controller-4.5-Amp-Thermostat

This does everything the other does, maintains neg air pressure also, accepts 240v cords and looks like it can use any fan within reason. But the big con is that it will cause the hum with some of fans.

Thoughts?

And lastly to this fan i found on ebay: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hydroponics-6-Inch-Digital-Mixed-Flow-Fan-300-CFM-30W-With-Speed-Controller-/162125549755?hash=item25bf6f90bb:g:Nj8AAOSw-KFXedaZ

This is a tiny bit cheaper than the hyper fans and It looks EXACTLY the same as the blue Hyper fans but is white in color and has different branding, looks to be almost made in the same factory just with different branding, that or it is a bloody good fake. Anyone seen these or know if they work with the hyper climate controller?

So if you got through that thanks for taking the time to read.
