Urgent help required! Please! Do I have bananas?!

Recommended Posts

Hi Stoners

I desperately need your guidance and help!

Currently have a WWXBB strain that I forced into flower outside on the 13th September.

Checking under the microscope for amber tricts and spotted what I think are bananas in amongst the buds? What are your thoughts? She's been putting on weight quite steadily the last few weeks, and I had thought I would only be a few weeks off harvest....but now I don't know and am a bit stressed. My husband relies on me for growing his meds (which we are all out of, and was relying on this plant for the next batch of caps)?... Eek!!!!

Pictures attached. Please give me your thoughts? Should I cut her down and savage what I can?

I'm assuming if she's got bananas she's got stressed somehow :( Poor baby.

Would love love your feedback and assistance xx

Hi Ally cat, I'd leave the plant to grow but get some tweezers and pluck out any bananas you see, you might be lucky that they aren't throwing viable pollen. Some plants will have a few bananas showing without being able to pollinate itself or others, If you keep on top of it you should be fine if your harvesting in a few weeks anyway, If it starts to produce massive amounts then you might want to consider pulling the plant up.

Good luck

By the way , Yes they are bananas.

yup, you got nanna's

is it your only plant - if so I'd let it go

if no, you could end up pollenating your other plants and seed them all

been there, it sucks, luck!

Thanks for the replys! She's outside in the veggie patch at the moment. Not particularly close to the other seeds I just popped a couple of weeks back. So no, it's not my only plant - but would hate to waste it.

I've been reading a bit since my post and have followed other advice to remove all the bananas that I could see under the scope. Thankfully there weren't that many.

So, do I just let her finish flowering? My concern is that she doesn't appear to have many pistills on top, if that makes sense? First time I've grown this strain, and certainly isn't flowering like the other strains I have in my tent. Just wondered if I've buggered her up somewhere along the line. She's 8 weeks in flower now, and I had thought she had at least until the end of this month to go. Ugh. So confusing!

Anyway, have attached a pic so you can see her in all her naked glory. Really appreciate your advice! Thanks guys xx

Hey Ally, I like to push my plants into over maturity and as a result end up with a lot of them showing a few nana's here and there.  Some show as early as yours, but most show a bit later.  So far, in my experience, I've never had any of them cause any pollination issues, and have become very blase about them as a result.

My advice is to let her go until she's as mature as you need her to be for best medicinal effect.  I'm assuming that by making caps you mean something like infused coconut oil in capsules, or hash oil.  So if you are refining it in some way it shouldn't matter even if you do end up with a few stray seeds.  There's a big difference between a female plant pushing a few nana's, and a proper hermaphrodite, and yours is the former.

But at the end of the day it is your plant, and some others have had bad experiences with nana's causing pollination, so it's your call.  If your other plants are only young, and not in flower, they will not be affected.

:peace:

Thanks everyone for taking the time to respond! You lot are awesome and have helped put my mind to rest. As we do, I had panicked when I saw those first few nanna's. I've since plucked them off and will let her finish doing her thing. Checked this morning and the trichs are mostly clear still, so at least a few more weeks off. She is thick and heavy with buds and resin though, so I imagine she'll be a doozy when she's finished!

Yes Sir Hashy, I make my better half canna caps infused in the coconut oil. So far we've been able to halve the amount of pharmaceuticals that he has to take for his nerve pain.... hence my high hopes on this plant working out

Cheers everyone again!
