Vic man charged after drug raid

 

Victorian police seized drugs, hydroponic equipment, imitation firearms and three motorcycles in a raid on a house in Melbourne's outer east.

 

Police from Mooroolbark searched a house in Swansea Road, Montrose, about 6.10pm (AEST) yesterday.

 

Police allege they found a hydroponic system with sophisticated lighting and heating, more than 60 mature marijuana plants and dried cannabis in a concealed room at the back of the house.

 

A Victoria Police spokesman said police also recovered some amphetamine and ecstasy tablets, imitation firearms, knives, two Triumph motorcycles and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

 

A 46-year-old Montrose man has been charged with 12 offences including trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, using and cultivating drugs, possessing the proceeds of crime and firearms offences.

 

He will appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court later today.
