Auto's under Lights

Recommended Posts

Ok , we all understand the consept of 18-6 then 12-12 for a photoperiod, but because of the predertimened time of Auto's are we better to run 20-4, for there entire growing...........ive not had a lot to do with Autos, but i think its fair to say they can be fickle,  like to hear some thoughts, please

It appears from my research that 20/4 is the best for Autos. Even though they will grow as well under 24/0 they will produce less THC. Even non-photoperiod plant need to rest and recuperate and it is in this resting phase that the plant gets ready to fight the sun again. As you probably know by now THCa is produced by the tricomes as a protection from the suns UV spectrum. (that's why an added UV light in the last few weeks of flower will usually produce more THC)

If you have light 24/0 this production will slow as the plant needs to expend energy ALL the time (energy wasted from making BIG buds)  but if you give it a rest (4 hours) the plant will maintain a constant supply for the whole time and during dark hours the plant can concentrate on growth.

THCa is basically invisible to the eye but as it fills the tricome head it makes the clear start to look milky and after doing its job as protector it dies of UV exposure and becomes a dark brown.

Hopefully this sounds familiar:    Clear -  Milky  - Brown

Just my thoughts but that is what you asked for....  lol
