Auto Watering Eco Bags?

Recommended Posts

They've been around for some years now, and I must admit I've never been keen on them as I'd rather my feeder roots to be able to dry out between waterings, and having something like that would keep it damp most of the time and possibly encourage a bad fungal/mould growth around them.

After looking at the picture again, it could in fact cause root rot right at the base of the plant because the bag is fairly close to the base of the stem.

EDIT: I forgot to mention. In Australia's arid countryside where the ground retains damn near no moisture at all, these bags could be beneficial to plants. But I usually grow outdoories in reasonably good mediums that retain moisture a lot better then what our typical Aussie countryside does.

i think hashy used them at some point

if at home & not out in the wilderness

blumat gravity fed system

you can set up 2 reservoirs

big one on the ground feeding a small raised res

so pressure is kept constant for a gravity system

use a pump on timer to keep the upper res topped up

& over flow back to the lower res
