Isopropyl Alcohol

Peter Hicks

Question

Hello Cultured Community,

I have posted this Topic as I need clarification on what is the correct type of Solvent people use to make RSO/ Cannabis Oil. I am 33 and suffer chronic pain... enough said...I have been studying this for quite a while. I currently use coconut oil and find it very good. My question relates to what type of  isopropyl alcohol and where to get it. The Yanks tend to us EverClear Grain Alcohol or something similar, I have found other similar aussie products, but they are too expensive especially when you need bit. Isopropyl Alcohol is all over ebay but its sold as being 'denatured' Alcohol meaning not for human consumption. Can this still be used for making safe medical RSO?

I have a reflux still and I am making my own moonshine with the hope after a few triple distillation process I can achieve my goal.

Any input on this topic would be graciously accepted.

Polmos Spirytus , Pure Ethyl-Alcohol , East Doncaster

This extraordinarily strong spirit needs to be treated with respect. It is questionable whether the human body is meant to digest such strong substances.

Being effectively pure ethyl-alcohol, it is more commonly used in cooking, in the preparation of fruit and herb tinctures, for medicinal purposes or by home perfume makers.

One customer recommends it above all else as therapy for arthritic pain, and has been massaging his joints with it for years!

At any rate, the premium price of this Pure Spirit goes some way to ensure it is used sparingly and thoughtfully. Drunk diluted & chilled it traditionally makes a fine accompaniment to fish dishes.
95% Alc/Vol.

Hi isopropyl alcohol is quite good Shellite is what RSO recommends but like you I have a reflux still and I think making my own is the best.the shellite or naptha leaves an unpleasant smell did,nt like it all too chemical isopropyl was not so chemical but does pick up the chlorophyll and is a bit darker in colour . I am currently pulling 95% pure alcohol from my still I find this is the best still pulls the chlorophyll out but I love that green colour regards

I have used ethanol gifted from a mate who makes his own moonshine. No problems at all with the end product. Just caution is needed when evaporating the ethanol off. Have used Iso 100% cleaning alcohol (used in the circuit board industry) and is very good but costs $25 a litre. So imo if you are making moonshine then use your by product to make your oil.
