Sir PsychoHashy
I think he was referring to a story that came on the news last night (unless there was more to the post that I missed) about doctors being able to prescribe, or register to prescribe, at some point. Can't help as I got up to leave the room as soon as it started as it started on my news with that bitch Haslam, so I had to save my family the inevitable vitriolic rant. At a guess Jason, my instinct would be that you won't be able to get it prescribed, but that's a discussion you would need to have with your dr, and at best you'll only get a pharma version like Sativex. If you want raw canna for meds, you're gonna have to start growing your own, cause our governments and their back room buddies aren't ever going to let you have something they don't control. Ozzy420
What last night news was on about was your gp can say u r able to use cannabis but u still have to apply through state and fed gov to have it imported from a legal med supplier. But what ppl dont understand you have been able to do this for a long time apply through the TGA for the ok to import med canna but the red tape was very long... https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/topic/26616-tga-scheduling-of-botanical-extract-of-cannabis-sativa/ https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/topic/19986-tga-application-for-medical-cannabis/
Sir PsychoHashy
My bad Ozzy, didn't see it, just made an assumption as it was posted not long after the news. Been a spate of people signing up looking to score lately, wonder if there's a little canna drought on somewhere? Thankfully there isn't one in my house, it's rainin' hash

MongyMan
TODAY's video. Help Lindsay beat this brain tumourMany people would have heard the news from NSW.Just to make this clear this is the same process and scheme available already in Queensland since December last year. This scheme is for doctors and specialists to apply for patients to be prescribed legal medical cannabis through the TGA Special Access Scheme for "TGA unapproved products not registered on the ARTG" but coming from a licenced supplier(which don't exist in Australia yet).Having gone through this process in Queensland already I can confirm that it is also a time consuming process which involves unnecessary delays and risks for patients who have to endure the waits for medicines.Because two applications are involved (Federal and State) and the medicines have to be sourced from a licenced producer (currently only overseas), it becomes a very long and protracted process. The patient's doctor or specialist has to apply through the TGA Special Access Scheme and also apply to the state through a state application process.Gaining approvals for CBD medicines only is a lot faster than anything containing more THC for example because different scheduling restrictions and processes that are in place. It is simply lots of media spin. In Queensland for example the government we believe intentionally tried to keep this regulatory change quiet and low key, maybe they didn't want to open the floodgates, maybe they weren't ready for that and maybe it all happened outside of their timeline due to legal processes that we had started. In NSW the government have chosen to scream it from the rooftops giving the misconception that its all just legal and simple when it is far from that and still involved a time consuming process with significant delays waiting for imports! Both of these state programmes The Queensland one and the NSW one are definitely far from ideal for patients suffering! But they do offer a legal option and patients and doctors can recommend any product that they believe that patient could benefit from just like the Qld programme. Anything from Cannabis skin patches to botanical full extract oils, to tinctures to dried bud for vaporisation. Things havn't changed alot......the thread below is from 2008 https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/topic/19986-tga-application-for-medical-cannabis/ MongyMan

Faith
If your back is that bad and I believe it is then look after yourself and don't rely on them to help you. they won't unless it pays or it gains power/control. grow your ow....meanwhile have a look around the neighborhoods at the people...not just 'old' people and not just people with cancer or other horrific trials or kids its just your everyday person...they/we are tired and hurting in so many ways...compare the grimaces and scowls and frowns to the happy smiles...often not just physically and their only avenue of healing is the jailer who keeps them that way. :ninja:
