Where in AUS can I get CMH/LEC lights

And I just found these people : https://www.eppinghydroponics.com.au/hi-par-315-watt-lec-light-kit.html

I am wondering about the spectrum difference between the different bulbs, and the PAR distribution across the footprint.

i am also finding info in the footprint of the 315s that does not line up with peoples grow diary claims.

When I start up again (I hope) I have two primary areas that can be made smaller by hanging some panda-plastic, but each one is :    Height =7foot/213 CM, Width=5 feet/152cm, depth=6 feet/183cm

In the past I have often used only half that space for my flowering area.

cultivationlighting.com claims that the footprint of a SUN SYSTEMS LEC315 is only 2.1 feet square (and optimally 18 inches from the canopy) which seems pretty close to that of a 400 watt HPS to me. Anything closer than 18 inches and you need an expensive way to dump heat, or you will get browning of the top of the plants. Mind you the 315 has a far better spectrum.

If that is indeed the case (footprint = 2.1 square feet) then I would need to buy quite a few of these. A 1.5m x 1.5m space would require 4 of them (at about $900 a piece or say $3600 just for the flowing area). Compare that to the top of the line LED (the only ones worth bothering with) ... a BlackDog Phytomax 800 is about $2772 (plus shipping), which makes the 315s MORE expensive that the best LED fixture made, unless you get a bad deal on your shipping costs.

And now I have this desire to see a side by side comparison of BlackDog Phytomax 800 to CMH 351s in a 5x5 space (with reflective walls) and I want PAR readings across the footprint (in a 10cm grid) across both of them.

People say all sorts of things about the 315s on yield and footprint, but the footprint I find on the manufacture sites says 2.1 feet square at 18 inches from canopy. That means you would need 4 of them to cover the same area as one Phytomax 800, which puts them close to the same price ballpark too (due to international shipping to Australia).

having grown with the 315's in the dpap i can say 2 315s will cover a 1.5m x 1.5m space with ease. whether you go with 2 x dpaps or a single dual lamp (630w) dpap (cheaper option) you will easily cover the space your talking about. some people might argue but i believe in a 1.5m x 1.5m space 2 x 315w dpaps would be better because of the wide footprint that they offer you could run 2 side by side and really maximise the light in that space in fact that would be my perfect set up in that space. i however do have a 1.5m x 1.5m tent and run the 630w in there and it covers it with no problem.

sun system is a very different reflector style and because of the square footprint would be less ideal in the larger space imo.

COB LEDS really seem to be taking off and are a DIY option havnt had much to do with them though

Fuckin - yada yada yada

Main question. Where the hell in Australia can you buy CMH/LEC grow light fixtures? On the web!

So far the only source I have found is a WHOLESALER (damn, no retail) and besides it is in Seacliff Park SA (another damn it).

http://www.stealth-garden.com/product/lighting/hi-par-315w-sunstorm-kit/

And why damnit? Even if they sold retail, I live in fuck all rural SA, can't physically endure the travel, and anything you buy with PLASTIC at a hydro shop in SA (even online) gets your details sent to the coppers instantly so they can come pay you a visit (fukin’ reefer madness).

But there IS a wholesaler for Sunstorm 315w kits. And that must mean that SOMEBODY must be selling them in their shops. So who? Does anyone have an online source? Will I have to buy from another country?

I really need a NON South Australia source, in this country, for the lights I want.

I will probably have to go using MARS II 700s for the veg space (one of their only vaguely dependable models), but I need something better for the flowering, and ceramic fits the bill.

But where the hell can they be found?

There is a bigger explanation to our life situation, but lets say we live isolated for health reasons, and we cannot endure travel or breathe in the main city suburbs. That is not negotiable,

This was all so much easier when I was disabled but well employed and just needed to provide for my lady. I had a social life back then and it was Adelaide after all.

Anyway, I will need to produce. It has been a long time but I know how. Lighting tech is much better now.

- - Types of Lights - -

LED? I’d love to be able to afford the BlackDog Phytomax 800 LED units, but nobody in Australia sells them (so border tariff and nosey people) and beside I could buy a car for the cost of each one and we live on DSP.

HPS is old hat. Lots of wasted photons in the wrong spectrum, the heat kills you on the inverse square law unless you can afford really expensive cooled fixtures.

CMH/LEC is very tempting. Way more efficient than HPS, nowhere near the price of quality LED units (I would rather not have to give up and use MARS II 700s). But ceramic is very hard to buy in Australia. I can’t drive around and shop in person (I don’t go out very often & we live in bloody hell nowhere) and the online shops that are not not overseas are lacking in these lights.

–- All the rest of the crap, feel free to skip the saga of woe –-

–- more about why I must produce –-

We have a shit ton of serious medical issues. My lady nearly starved to death a few times from pain created nausea. She has fuck tons wrong with her; autoimmune crap and connective tissue disorders and many other long named conditions, several of which WE (well we are smart, she was in university at age 9) had to diagnose for our selves and then “ever so gently” HINT to a specialist that she might have em.

- “Hey doc, I know I’m no doctor but she has these symptoms, remember those, and I read in medical journal about this condition where...”

–- “hey you’re right. It looks like she is the ‘poster child’ for that condition. How did I miss that?”

... (perhaps his head being stuck up his ass makes it hard to do real science based medicine)

They are such morons at time. Nearly all of them are 30 years behind (even speand our GPs usually can’t even do basic maths right (not joking). Most of the docs are useless. They never read and have no lust for science. Our two good ones are gone (the diagnostician retired, the other one moved to Morocco). We used to have amazing conversations on all sorts of scientific topics with that diagnostician.

Me? My health is a joke. I have two precancerous things (which I can no longer get tested for every year, with the Medicare changes) and I neither produce not absorb (properly) vitamin D (and that raises the risk a lot). I have at least 7 chronic pain conditions (those they have managed to name) & 1 that has no name – oh ya - and another long named condition that effects my bone marrow and makes me clot to fuck and gone and temporary killed me almost two years ago. Why? Because the various doctors could not be bothered to treat me - for a condition that normally kills people with 2 ½ years of being diagnosed if they are not treated, and they knew I had it for a decade. fucking irresponsible..

I took years to get them to admit I had it (one very cheap test) and after that the docs KNEW for certain, they all played "make someone else be responsible" for doing the 134 minute office procedure ever other month.  So it as back and forth with the Royal Adelaide Hospital and the GP docs. Nobody was willing to treat me until **AFTER** I threw a huge clot and it stopped my heart.

Yeah - no heart beat at all – just three days of increasing pain (which is not unusual for me) and then I am told that I “sighed” and thud (I hit the floor). And there was my wife in HER condition doing 25 mins of CPR on me with the offspring looking on talking to 000. I am told my face was dark purple while I was dead. The hypoxic brain injury has been an issue.

Life has been interesting since then because I am so fukin tired all the time. When I do go over to growing (and man I really see no other real choices) – setting it all up will hurt me a lot. I will need new gear.

There is heavy lifting and all that and it will suck. Shit, I can barely get out of bed most days. So until the first harvest comes in I will be “death standing up”. With any luck I will not be “death lyin down” again.

All our medical problems would benefit from MC, especially whole plant concentrates. But running a continual harvest system (say 2 plants a month) using SIPS and probiotic gardening means having a fair number of ladies at each stage (clone, in veg to be shaped and popped [sCROG] and those in flower). Probably 36 to 48 girls at a time - which scares the shit out of me due to the laws, especially “Proceeds of Crime” shit that they now have, and no more 10 plant plan.

These days 1 plant inside, in the dirt & under lights, is a criminal offence. Even a plant OUTSIDE can put you into the "anti hydro Murdoch bullshit laws" if you have anything on the property that looks like a fertilizer or a grow light.

Oh a jury or a magistrate might show compassion on the “manufacturing” charge and just give me a tiny fine and say “stop that it’s bad”, but the “Proceeds of Crime”process is entirely separate and they don’t have to prove you profited to take everything you own (including grabbing the money in your accounts without notice, & kicking you out of your house and selling the thing before the formality of "Proceeds of Crime" trial even happens).

So growing will be very stressful and I do not need stressful, but everybody staying alive would be nice

I can’t buy it. I am too poor. I no longer know anybody. A social life is necessary to have contacts and that ship sailed when I got sick. I could not drive into the Adelaide suburbs even if I had a contact. I am in way too much pain and have too much exhaustion. The distance is beyond me.  These heath issues have made us live totally isolated other than on the web.

And she is being taken off of the last of her pain meds. The nerve pain is being a bit much. So, I have no real choices left.

So that is life as it is, and today is not forever.

hmm, i had a light system sent direct from Stealth Gardens in SA, a shop in another state did not have any left in stock and i was in a hurry for it so they had it sent direct to me, i purchased the light through a hydro biz in another state and they organized for it to be picked up and sent direct to me, im just a little worried about what was mentioned above about the law in SA hydro shops have to report every light being sold, im wondering since i did not buy the light from Stealth gardens but had the shop owner have them send it direct to me, are wholesalers required to hand over all light purchases? u wouldnt think not? also as i didnt buy the light from them the hydro shop did as far as i know as i payed the hydro shop not stealth gardens so where does this land me? am i all safe after this purchase?  so basically all the details steal gardens had from me was my addy to send it to, thats concerning enough i know but as they normally just send to hydro shops would they be recording and passing on all light sales?

also i forgot to mention i do not live in SA either.

thanks in advance.....
