OIL WONT SOLIDIFY

Hi all a few questions for the experienced in making the oil

I followed this procedure to make the oil  http://www.cureyouro...ke-the-oil.html

I boiled it in the rice cooker, (didn’t exceed 173F) suggested for about an 45-60 mins until there was about half an inch left. Then as per instructions put in on a warmer for about 2.5-3 hrs. The only bubbles appearing on the surface were pin size & only visible when holding a torch over it. I used "organic oil extraction liquid", under contents it says "ethanol"

3 ounces produced 23ml of oil which seems like a lot. Now a day later, the oil hasn’t solidified & im not sure why ? Even leaving in the fridge over night it wont set

Wondering if I haven't had it on the warmer, (didn’t exceed 75C) long enough & that’s perhaps why it produced so much oil ?, although this process says that when theres no longer bubbles on the surface, that’s when you know all the alcohol has been burnt off ?

Also it says to only go through the washing process at the start twice & then "80% of the THC is washed off". Is there any harm & repeating the extraction process again, obviously want to extract every last ml ? If it evaporates to nothing, wouldn’t it just mean theres no oil left in the mix ?

Your oil wont set it will become thick and sticky but it wont go hard like toffee dose.

 

When i do a BHO run i wash my oil in ISO, to date i have not had a oil go hard like toffee it will be thick and sticky but it wont set...

As Ozzy has said, it should end up being very thick.

 

If you used ethanol, how pure was it ?

If it is less than 100% pure alcohol then the remaining % is usually water.

I think you may need to heat it longer, mix it a little as you do to help release the moisture from the emulsion

Hi yes 99% pure ethanol, rest says "essential oil of camomile & almond, both > 1%"

 

So you saying it needs to be heated longer to evaporate the last of the alcohol/water of it ?  Read so long as you dont go over 290 deg F, its OK ?

 

Any ideas how much you should be left with from 3 ounces ? Obviously just paranoid about going to far & boiling off any of the oil

Whats BHO ISO ?

Yeh you basically made RSO (rick Simpson oil) bho is butane hash oil and ISO is isopropyl alcohol, if you're looking to get high. Do some research on bho, but if it's more for meds. Stick with the rso, either way you done it right. It does come out like a thick oil. Safe travels

How thick is the stuff you have now is it like honey or thicker?

 

On how much you get from the 3 ounces it will depend on the weed used.

 

If you want to remove 100% of the thc from the weed soak the left overs over night, it will go a very dark green almost black in color, that is the green coming out from the weed, the 1st quick wash is so u dont get the green through it, then just evap off the way u have been doing.

Out of curiosity, where do you purchase 99% alcohol containing 1% essential oils ?

If your oil is still very runny, it must contain moisture that was stripped from the plant material or the ethanol contains far more than 1% essential oils.

I doubt that you will be able to remove the essential oils, they will blend with the canna oil, making it runnier than normal

I usually get around 5ml/ounce after processing, that can vary depending on plant material used though

It wont hurt to wash a few times.

I soak overnight and then process it, just needs fitlering, purifying a little more

Cheers Guys, the buds were as dry as, so wouldnt think there was any moisture there

 

Its basically like water at the minute ?

 

You can buy that mix from most hydro shops

sounds like the alcohol has not evaporated off yet. give it a week on the bench.

Put it somewhere warm to evap the alco quicker.
