Help best strains for fibromyalgia

Recommended Posts

hey guys so I'll be first time grower this season and while I'm growing for myself I'll also be looking to get some strains that could please God help my partners fybro,

Iv seen different strains recommended for different symptoms but we really don't have the space to grow a strain for each symptom ie severe joint pain, spasms, nausea, migraine, anxiety, depression, lack of sleep really hoping some one could recommend a strain or 2 that could help with the condition in a hole not just individual symptoms

Thanks for reading guys

start with a hybrid strain

hybrids are a combination of Sativa and Indica strains,

Strains can be a 50/50 Sattie/Indica or 70/30 or, or, or

I'd go towards a 50/50 mix for the day time (or a little more sattie dominant) - should help pain/anxiety/nausea etc w/o putting her to sleep

for night time - an indica strain, that will help pain/migraine/sleep

by having opposite strains available she can choose to medicate with an Indica during those bad days

when looking at seeds, read about the smells/flavours too they are important -

on a side note, some indica's can be stimulating like a Sativa

Luck!

Hey Anto, as a sufferer of fibro I'd love to give you a list of miracle cure strains, but unfortunately can't.  Partly because everyone's experience of a given strain will be a little different, and partly because I haven't found one that completely wipes the symptoms out.  So basically you will need to experiment a little to find the best outcomes.

I avoid daytime use due to it not being right for me to do that, but would concur with Matti that you would be best off looking at 50/50 or even a bit more sativa dominant for daytime use, but be aware that some sati doms can be more likely to cause anxiety issues.  I can recommend starting with something with Blueberry genetics in the mix as in my experience they are generally mellow and relaxing even though Blueberry has sativa in it.  I personally avoid Skunk genetics as they tend to have a harsh edge that can actually exacerbate some of my body pain, but again everyone is different and that sounds mainly specific to me, and some Skunk crosses turn out okay.

For me, the Afghanica based Indica's seem to be the most effective for pain management and relaxing the muscles without causing anxiety or tenseness.  As mentioned above, Blueberry crosses with these work well.  What I have done is tried many strains out over the last few years and tried to get a handle on what works well or not, and look at the base genetics to get an idea of what backgrounds work best, and with ensuing seed orders I have looked for background genetics of a similar nature.  I now have a few varieties I know to work well in my seed stash, and have made crosses using my favourites.  It's taken a few years, but I'm getting close to nailing down a selection for best effect.

Best for me so far are:

  • Afghan #1, Sensi Seeds
  • Hindu Kush, Sensi Seeds
  • Blueberry OG, Original Sensible Seed Co
  • Northern Light Blue, Delicious Seeds
  • Pakistan Valley, World of Seeds
  • Bubblegum Auto, 00 Seeds
  • Blue Diesel Auto, Advanced Seeds

Others have been good, but not as good, and I also like having some more recreational stuff in the stash for when I'm in the right mood sometimes.  The last 2 are autoflowers, and it's worth noting that in my experience most auto's have a nice relaxing edge to them, which I put down to the Ruderalis genetics, and I find it to be helpful.  That list is also very heavily Indica dominant, and not particularly daytime suitable if you want to get anything done, but they all have very good body stones, and a mellow buzz.

I would also add that I pretty much only consume hash, and generally through a vaporiser or edibles as those methods seem to help deepen the body stone.  I have made oils, but find them to be a bit less body effective for me.  Most weed in my experience helps with nausea, but not all do.

Best of luck :peace:

Thanks for your reply and the info it'll be s great help, do you mind if I ask the significance Of the smell n taste?

Terpene's are responsible for smell n taste and to some extent, the high we get when we use cannabis too

each terpene has a different effect, tho you will probably find yourself gravitating towards certain smells/terpenes

if you are not a fan of mushrooms (as an example) you will want to stay away from any 'earthy' strain

Love the smell of berries? look for a strain that may have that smell, and you'll probably be happy with the taste/flavor

(google 'cannabis terpene', so much great info out there)

Hi sir, thank you very much for such detailed info, I was just showing my partner she's pretty stoked to see there might be some reprieve from her symptoms,

I think we'll definitely be going with autos for our first grow as were out of the country for 4 weeks from mid December and would really want then harvest befor we leave,

As this is our first grow we pretty much just want to do things as straght forward as possible, will defiantly try some of those strains, have also heard pineapple chunk is quite good for fybro, and is also a good beginners grow, have you had any experience with the strain

I have indeed had Pineapple Chunk experience, and still have a little hash left.  Not my best medicinal strain, but good nonetheless, and again individual experience will vary.  I did a basic smoke report halfway down the page in the link below, and if you go back through the diary the grow of the plants is in there.

And, just a heads up in case your partner hasn't smoked canna before, she would be well advised to ease her way into dosage gently until she builds up a little tolerance, as having a green out from smoking too much early on can not only be a bit scary, but the tension and anxiety that can come from it can also make the pain worse, and if you're going to dabble in strong Sativa's easing in is even more important as they can be very racy in some cases.

This information is great as I'm also a Fibromyalgia sufferer and so is my 20yr old daughter, even my 18yr old son is showing signs. I've been bed ridden just about for last few yrs only going out to drs every fortnight for more pain meds, even though they don't help much. Wondering if anybody has tried cannabis oil for fibro and if it worked. Haven't tried anything yet but researching into best way to try it as desperate for some relief!

I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2001. It forced me to retire on a Disability in 2004, and since the beginning it's been difficult to find the right pain med combo.

Right now I use a Fentanyl patch, the Oxycodone as the two narcotic pain meds. Added to them are Celebrex, an anti inflammatory, and Neurontin a Nerve pain med.

I want to get off the fentanyl, but need something to take its place. I'm hoping it will be Medical Marijuana or MedMar. It's been approved by my State, but the roll out has been slow.

To get ready, when I was in Spain in May I stopped at a Marijuana Co-op. They recommended I try Sweet seeds, their Sweet Afghani Delicious strain. So I'm growing two plants now.

They've also come up with another version of this strain, one with higher CBDs. If SAD works for me, I'll try the new strain next year.

I do want to make one comment, and I think most chronic pain patients think this way - we're looking for pain relief only. We are not looking to get high. In fact most of us are to the point where narcotics don't cause any sense of euphoria none at all. That's been my situation since I began using narcotic pain meds 16 years ago. Even in the beginning, the first time I was on Fentanyl, I didn't get high. Same for Oxycodone. No high, no euphoria, just pain relief. Isn't that enough?
