Question

Hi everyone,

My partner has been diagnosed with terminal skin cancer and I want to procure some Rick Simpson Oil. It seems the only way to do this is to make it yourself. I'm keen to speak with anyone who's had any experience making the stuff - I'm nervous about doing it myself for numerous reasons. I've read the threads on this site that talk about it, but I have other questions:

1) Regarding ventilation...what's proper? I have a bathroom with fan and a large window - is that OK? (I don't really have access to an open space that wouldn't raise suspicions.)

2) The exact solvent to use -

Is this OK?

Other questions, too!

Thanks for any help.

Here's what I do Goodstuff.

Iso boils @ 82.6C

Water boils @ 100C

When heating the iso the temp will not raise above 82.6 until all of the iso has gone.

So that the oil doesn't burn, Just before all of the iso has evaporated I add a teaspoon of water. This allows any other impurities to be purged from the mix up to 100C

You do not want to be smoking iso, so you need to get rid of it all. The teaspoon of water ensures all of the iso is gone and once the thermometer reaches 100 all the water has gone too.

My oil sets like toffee once cooled.

Hope it helps

I did this :)

I think I got rid of it all. It was hard after being in the fridge for a short while. My girl's going to start taking it this evening - really small doses to start with!

Hi everyone,

Just letting you know the oil is turning out to be a huge help. Since the cancer spread to my partner's bones she has had significant pain. She is on all sorts of medication for pain relief, but the cannabis oil has been the most effective at treating the pain. Whether or not it's actually curing the cancer is unknown, but it's been fantastic as a pain killer.

Thanks for all your help, guys.

Cheers,

Goodstuff

Hey Goodstuff,

What can I say...? other than....FUCKIN FANTASTIC!!!!

I too use it for pain management due to a nasty growing in my head. Canna hasn't 'cured' me according to my scans, but the pharma crap was doing my insides more harm than good. I was taking more concoctions to manage the side effects of the pharmas and these all had side effects of their own to manage. Canna has allowed me to reduce (not eliminate, unfortunately, but certainly reduce) the pharmas which has been a HUGE plus. I still find I need an opiate at times for what they call 'break through pain' but I now have an appetite and I'm not losing weight as quick as I was, I might even be developing a layer of fat PMSL lol lol lol

Personally I have found all forms of canna, be that oil, edibles, hash and bud all have their own beneficial effects. I'd recommend a bit of trial and error to examine the benefits of differing forms for your partner too. I don't care what anyone says, this is a *#%@ of a disease and anything you find that helps, then use it imo.

Merl

P.S. I will warn you tho, some dr's/medicos are DEADLY against it, so be aware of who you tell within the medical fraternity. Some can be REAL NASTY about 'non approved' options.

Yeah, I am now a HUGE fan of this substance. Seriously, marijuana rocks! God I'm so glad I pushed ahead with making it. The stuff I got was also exceptional quality, in my opinion. What a gamble - paid off big time.

What surprised me was how encouraging the doctors and nurses were about my partner taking it. (Long story, my partner's family were against it and forced us to tell the docs, thinking they'd say no!) Thank bloody fk they were supportive. My partner's family must be thanking their stars that their wishes were not fulfilled.

Dope has been a true blessing!

Ah that's awesome to hear, Goodstuff! Great that you have sensible health professionals who are supportive. I work in a health science field, and from my experience, most health professionals are at least open minded about it.

Mind you, most of my colleagues are under 50 or so, so I can't speak to the attitudes of older health professionals. I'm guessing younger people are more open to it.

Kinda feels like society is being fucked over by prohibition once you realise how helpful canna can be, right? I know that's how I feel!

Hey Goodstuff,

You are so very lucky to have a supportive med team around you both. I haven't been so lucky. My GP is in total agreeance "If it works, use it". But the specialists OHH HELL NO. They have pointed to it as a cause rather than a treatment. Mind you they've pointed at everything as being a cause. In my view trying to divert the focus from being that they were told for years, decades even, that something just wasn't right. They could not identify a cause and labelled it everything from psychological to somatoform. So now they have a cause it's a case of "...Ohh don't blame us... it must have been YOU, not us..." Bloody dr's. I am in contact with quite a few fellow patients and I am most certainly NOT an isolated case. If they can't pinpoint a cause, give it a label, then its all 'YOU' or "...its all in your head...". And that's a bit of a problem when the problem is IN YOUR HEAD.

Hey FullCircle,

'Fucked over' is about the right way to put it. I do agree that the older generation of medical professionals have the more negative views or are more vocal with these views. The problem I see is that many of the most vocal are the specialists. The ones who have spent 4 yrs in med school, then 3 yrs in their specialisation, then another 10yrs in practise, so 80% of them are older anyway and are well indoctrinated into the AMA's rhetoric "...if it's not approved/indorsed by us (and big pharma), it can't be prescribed..."

I actually think it's criminal to withhold it. She's slept better and has felt relaxed and even happy when taking it.

By the way, Merlin, sorry about the nasty growing in your head. I hope canna smashes the hell out of it.

Do any of you guys know about this guy's stuff:

Is it as good as Rick Simpson Oil?

Cheers.
