Nutrient scam - Am i getting what i paid for?

Recommended Posts

Shame to hear about ,I used optimum grow and bloom for a long time . Haven't seen it around for years in Melbourne ,but I only go to a couple of different hydro shops I'd use it again but it would want to be sealed .if lids don't fit right it may slowly evaporate ,let seems too dumb to try and rip someone off that way without topping up with water so you'd be deceived enough to come back and spend more money.

I can't even begin to count how many times I've got down to the bottom of one bottle of nutes only for the other one to still have some in it.  Personally I don't think there's been any foul play with watering them down or anything like that.  I think it's more just ensuring that we get at least 1L without going too much over so they can say good enough and move on instead of worrying about ensuring every bottle has exactly 1000mL in it.

I also believe that watering down your nutes would be a great way to royally piss off your customers who'd then boycott you for life.  People expect there to be a dope tax on grow gear but we all hate scammers and products that don't work so the smart money is on adding a few dollars to the base cost of your nutes and then rounding down at the register so they feel as though you're doing them a solid instead of making that extra few percent profit.  I know that's how every hydro shop I've visited has been run anyway while I wouldn't put it past a scammer opening up a shop I reckon it would have to be online where they can setup and shut down before word of mouth ruins them and not some brick and mortar place that needs your repeat business to keep food on the table.

I can't see big companies bottling their products in such a hit and miss manner. And they certainly won't be giving you more for free... I imagine the process is automated and you receive exactly the amount shown on the label. And the lid should be sealed.

I would go direct to the manufacturer if you don't want to confront the store owners.... I am sure they would be interested to hear...

Yeah, I don't know much about manufacturing but i think the seal would be standard. This seem like its made to look like a sealed lid but it doesn't

Also the fact that he could up sell me the NF root nectar for $20. Its on ebay for $70..Everything i have bought there is like this, yet i go to pet shop to get ph down and its properly sealed.. Someone could easily take some out and top with water or even replace empty bottles with their own solution.. That is why i think any decent manufacturer would have a vested interest in sealing the bottles properly and ensuring the quantity and quality are always the same.. I emailed the manufacturer to ask them about this so i might get a reply some time after Easter.

this sounds like an old publican trick , to get some extra cash in the late 80's early 90's

what a publican would do is take say his 10 bottles of Jack D just delivered & on invoice

remove 100mil from each of the 10 , replace with water & fill a empty bottle with the real stuff

so as long as you account for 10 bottles being sold , number 11 is yours glass by glass ,

was done with most spirits i think at that time

Had a mate that worked at a drive thru in our teens. Would keep track of six packs then ring up a carton once 4 of any variety sold... Pocketed the rest. Made a heap of cash ! lol

. NF rotor nectar should be about 20 dollars for just one litre. 70 dollars would about what I'd expect to pay for 4 litres

You cant find it anywhere for $20 per liter.. Look for it online anywhere even ebay, its about $40 for the 500ml and $70 for the liter.. It comes in 5 liters not 4 and its about $250+.

That is why $20 is very sus for a liter  bottle
