Hydro grower moving to outdoor soil and cannot get it right! Help&

Recommended Posts

Hey Everyone,

Its been a bit of a bad luck run for a bit so time to turn that around and get something working for us!

SOIL....

Stuffs me what keeps going wrong, but either plats from seed or clones start having major deficiencies after about 3-4 weeks of veg.

Soil is a mix of Searles 5 i 1, Searles Premium garden soil, Perlite, Dolomite and Coco bricks. Feeding with either BioBizz nutes or just plain water from water tanks. The PH of the water is 5.8 and 0ppm. When watering with either nutes or plain water, runoff is at 6.8, so shouldnt be a PH in the soil prob.

Mainly it looks like a Magnesium deficiency but have fed with some epsoms in the soil and as a foliar.

Got me stuffed what is wrong.

What is a good, RELIABLE, soil mix we can buy, in AUSTRALIA and use for growing in pots outdoors without using too many nutes? (in pots are only option due to location)

WORM CASTINGS

I use a good quality potting mix and worm castings, I usually do a 50/50, if no potting mix I use dirt from the garden and do a 60/40 mix, this balance was recommended to me by a professional ROSE gardener ( sweet little old lady ), I was scared doing a 50/50 mix the first time but got over the top results and yield.

I'm really Glad I listened to her, EVERYONE said I was nuts and I'm stupid for doing it like this, NO ONE expected it to work so well, not even me, I even neglected them a little and still got the best result I've ever had in a grow.

The left over castings are used to make tea for your plants, 1 cup of castings in 8 to 10 litres of water, never buy silly fertilizers again.

I even use it in my grow tent, you need to cover the soil with hay or something because a 1000 watt bulb really dries out the castings.

Its cheap, natural and 10 times better than any thing on the market.

If you want to cut your costs and get over the top results use worm casting, when I grow its the only thing I buy.

A 2 to 3 month grow cost me $50, plus electricity

& if you want to see your plants freak out & do even better , get some pilsner malted barley from a brew store around $5 kg

coffee grind 2oz to 20lts of water or bubble with 1/4 cup kelp meal or lucerne chaff/meal or neem meal for 24hrs , basically the

barley will start breaking down what ever you put with it fairly quickly & also assist the breakdown process in the soil in turn feeding

plants , you can watch your plants go into pray mode after watering even with just the barley on it's own ,

& if that doesn't impress the old rose lady , sprout some seeds for seed sprout teas , sprout seeds , grind them once the tap root is as

long as the seed then into water , corn = cytokinins , lucerne = triacontanol , barley = enzymes or a legume / cover crop seed mix , think

of all that is needed for a seed to sprout & grow , your now giving that mothers milk so to speak to your adult plant , pgr's & enzymes

along with ya barley mulch you could use castings as top dresses though the grow under the mulch layer , mixed with comfrey , nettles , ect

inviting bene's to work & re-inoculating the same as you do with teas you make but without the bubbling , both would be cool

warning lucerne aka alfalfa is hot , less is more cos the natural PGR triacontanol you get from lucerne/alfalfa can really mess a plant up

good growing to ya S76
