it was made quite clear that there will be some kind of financial testing of applicants......  lets hope some of the bs gets amended in the lower house

AHHHH You are all missing the point.. I didn't bother reading it but none of you will get a license to grow your own no matter how sick you are.. That is not what they want.. Nobody will be able grow legally for personal

 

Also, they cant let one person grow legally for personal use and not let someone else just because they have a criminal record or something.

 

They will be giving approval to people and business's who will produce or manufacture it under strict government control and to be sold in pharmacy..

 

Funny how they prohibit us and throw us in jail, make us out to be scum for the last 70+ years but now they see its not so bad they want to become the dealer.

 

Anyhow, like i said . Nobody will be permitted to grow their own..

Yeah billy, it would for sure.  I can imagine you with 300 acres of weed but you will need more security than the goat 

 

I am just guessing of course but it could be indoor or outdoor, it would be strictly controlled and highly secure. The people who will apply and be approved will already be in similar industry and be able to show they know what they are doing on a large scale.  Mostly multi million dollar setups and companies that already grow commercially.

You want approval for just 10 plants in your greenhouse.. what you going to do with 10 plants?

 

Just saying,, that is not what the government has in mind.

I mentioned that if I desired to apply I can see no reason why my application wouldn't be considered.

Unlike you I read the act. There is no guidelines for the size of the operation and i see no reason why a smaller producer wouldn't be considered as long as you have a licenced manufacturer who vouches for you and states that they will take what ever product you cultivate .that is stated in the act.

 

I never said I was hoping to get a licence to grow my own perso. In fact I said I wouldn't even consider applying because I like to grow my own and I think having a licenced medical garden would make that too difficult with the government watching over my shoulder.

 

Don't assume that everyone on this forum is an uneducated dole bludger. Many of us have great educations great jobs and plenty of money in the bank behind us if we wanted to start a small venture like this

On the upside... it does open the doors for Medicinal trials which they can finally do research on what we already know...

Ok fair enough. I was not trying to start anything.  Accusing me of assuming everyone is a dole bludger is just your opinion because you are upset. Assuming assumptions.

 

No need to assume someone is attacking you in the first place. Originally i wasn't directing anything at you, it was just general comment "your all missing the point" regarding licenses and who can possibly get one.

 

Maybe you are right but we will have to see..  Here is why i think that will not be the case..  If anyone can apply for small operations they will be swamped with applications from 1000's of  people wanting to start their medical MJ business including myself..   Ill just do 10 plants in the shed or the spare room.  If they let anyone apply to do it and i mean anyone not just dole bludgers but the general public. They wont be able to discriminate who gets a permit as long as you have some money some references and are an outstanding citizen.  There will be a thousand small public ops to regulate. ..Not to mention how many large scale business's would pop up. There would be more weed factories than coffee shops.

 

From what i have read and its my opinion that the very strictest guidelines and qualifications will need to be met to obtain any permit to grow and these will be companies that already have experience in large scale commercial cultivation. There will not be hundreds or thousand's of people starting small ventures no matter how outstanding they are..

 

Each state will have a few selected licensed growers and manufacturers where they will be able to regulate it easily and maximize profit.

 

As always just my opinion, hopefully i didn't offend anyone else .

i see your points and they are valid.

 

the funny part is i think we actually agree.

 

its not something i would truly be interested in because it would interfere with my personal stash. i am hanging out for recreational use to be legalised. i am a recreational smoker only. no medical conditions and i wont pretend i do just to get access to medical cannabis. i believe i should have the right to smoke as much if not more so than people who have the right to drink alcohol. for that reason i want to be able to stand up and be counted as a recreational smoker not a medical user

That is what i meant by the 10 plants.. Because the farmer would get nothing anyhow,   It would be like growing lettuce, after the government put all the regulations and taxes on it. You would need to grow a lot to make decent profit. It also has to me manufactured, packaged, shipped and sold probably at similar prices to the black market so the farmer would get a fraction of what its worth.

 

I actually wish it were possible to grow legally for medical use. Even just 1 single plant.. We will have to see how long that takes, maybe the laws will change as it progresses. Right now the government does not want anyone smoking raw cannabis even under these new laws. 

 

I should qualify easily for medical use so i will be interested to eventually see what products start to become available.  I think i will still be better off and have more money growing some chronic of my own illegally.
