Propogation for guerilla growers

Recommended Posts

I'm interested in hearing propogation methods of guerilla growers.

I need to work out what way I am going to start my seedlings so it will be easier to carry to my site (out bush). I'm thinking that I will use large trays filled with potting mix and vermiculite. Do you think the roots would get too crowded planting them all together in a tray(temporary, maybe three weeks before I plant)?

Would I be better off growing in jiffy cubes?

I wont use rockwool as It is too expensive:whistling

Yeah, I'd say you'd definitely be better off starting your plants in individual pots or units and then potting them on outdoors in spring once the frost risk is gone, (depends where you are in Oz.)

You could use 80mm pots which can be fitted into pot holders which carry 8 at a time. These can be found at most garden centers, and either scrounged of them for nothing or bought for bugger all. A few of these carriers would definitely make it easier to get plants out there, and have them growing in larger individual containers for their early growth.

The seedling stage of growth, where the plants germinate and set up their photosynthesis and growth systems, ususally lasts anything from one to 4 weeks, depending on strain and the conditions they're growing in... So you could conceivably grow seedlings for a couple of weeks in a container en masse, but IMHO you'd be far better off from a seedling health pov in using individual jiffy pots or small pots directly sown.

Hope that helps. lol

p.s. edited that last bit, just for security... lol :whistling

Grow out those seeds you got and select a female ... its gonna be an awful shame if you plant what you think is females and they turn out to be all males.

I myself would grow out the seedlings till i find a female that meets my requirements then clone into rockwool ( rockwool isnt that expensive ) Use the 4cm x 4cm cubes and clone like crazy... I was thinking of doing a massive op this year but i ran out of funds so it might have to wait another year, me and a close friend were gonna bobbie trap our plants ( viet cong style ) I know what your thinkin it sounds a little wild but thinking about someone benifiting from all your hard work seems a little dissapointing. :peace: :bow

i would do what slim suggested with using clones...and keep to 1 plant per pot....just ask some friends or family if they have any spare pots or just look in gardens, etc...seperating plants can really fuck with roots, especially if many plants roots are in the same bunch :peace:

i wouldnt do what slim said about boobie trapping your crop tho....if it gets found by a copper, your definately gonna regret visiting the grow again BUT imagine if a 10yo got caught up in the trap....not a scene i would like to stumble across thats for sure....

there was a special on foxtel about boobie traps not long ago and the covered mj crops as its a major issue in the usa and what the growers are doing is stuff like putting double sided razor blades at the base of the stem so when a person goes to rip it out they get all cut up ( IMO they deserve that one), planting amongst bamboo so that they can make pits and place bamboo spears facing up, having bamboo streched out with a t shaped tied to one end with bamboo spears coming out...this is then tied to a trip wire system and swings out impaling the poor person....

IMO if u are going to boobie trap the grow, only do it for warning....

get a can, put small rocks inside, put a nail either side of the can near the opening of the can and tie to 2 trees....depening on how noisy the area is, u should be able to hear the rocks bouncing about for about 150 metres and with more cans on the same line it can increase upto about 500 metres giving ample time to pack up your gear and getting the fuck out.....

Dont bother with pots, just use the cut off bottoms of a plastic milk bottle with hole cut in the botton to drain.

I personally would either direct sow them in the spot you have chosen, or go with the cloning. Although cloning can be a PIA with large numbers of clones, but at least what your planting out is female. If you even get one male out there with the other plants they will get seeded.
