Confused about seed terminology

Guys, if a seed description says:"Indoor flowering period: 75 days". Does it mean that I can start harvesting approx 75 days after planting or does it mean that only the flowering period itself lasts 75 days but it doesn't say how long it will take for the plant to start flowering?

When they say 75 days that is a rough guide on how long to flower the plant but when harvest comes its ones own choice in what they want from the smoke as to when they will take it.

Most plants once you have turned to flower will show there sex in roughly 2 weeks some sooner some longer, most of the time the males will show 1st.

With flowering times some ppl count it from when they have turned the lights to flower 12/12 and other will count it when they see the 1st signs of sex.

Thanks for your quick responses. Now I understand the seed description. The seed I've bought (and I'm asking about) is Dinamex Autoflowering. My understanding is that I can't influence (by changing lights on/off period) when it'll start flowering cos its auto. I'm curious how long the plant will take to grow, get through flowering stage and I can harvest. Does anybody have experience with this particular strain?

Didn't realise you were asking about autos. Haven't grown autos myself but the descriptions I have seen are a total from germination to harvest figure. Having said that, we always get people here complaining the descriptions are incorrect.

The breeder would be the best person to answer this, have you asked them?

I've sent them query now. But those stated 75 days seems to be really too short for the whole lifetime of the plant, doesn’t it?

If you are new to growing it might be worth giving auto's a miss as they can be a bit finicky, they need a perfect start to get the best out of them. Are you growing indoor or out?? If outdoor, many people struggle with auto's, but it would be worth visiting shroomy shrooms threads to see how it's done. If indoor look at Buzzo's threads. They are the 2 die hard auto fans around here. Site sponsor sweet seeds are auto specialists and I can say from experience that they do what their marketing suggests and are robust good strains..

Most auto breeders like to make claims around the 8-9 week mark.  But in my experience, and for my tastes, I usually find up to 5 weeks over what's stated, minimum 3-4.  I do like mine a little over matured though, so some would knock a week or 2 off that, but I've never had one go less than 12 weeks.  I've got some going now that are just on 11 weeks with a large chunk of indica in them, and they are not quite ready for flush yet, so will be looking at 13-14 weeks for harvest, after 2.5 weeks to show pre flowers, and going into actual flower at about 5 weeks.  I tend to look at stated flowering times from breeders as a guide from start of actual flower to the point where it's time to start checking maturity for flushing, with auto's or photo's.

Dinamex being sativa dominant will likely be a bit longer than 12 weeks though, the ruderalis does seem to speed up flowering and maturity a little, but those Haze genetics will still drag it out a bit.  I personally wouldn't even bother checking trichs for maturity until 90 days.

On a side note, if you aren't an experienced grower it might be worth getting some experience with photoperiod plants before dabbling with auto's, they need perfect conditions and treatment in their early stages in order to perform.  A lot of 1st time growers see them as a simple option, but they don't allow for any fuck ups.

If you do a grow, auto or otherwise, put a grow diary up on this site and you will get lots of advice and assistance, possibly even enough to help you pull off an auto grow successfully.

Best of luck :peace:

It may well be more common to endure problems with auto's.

My grow was far from perfect and yielded good results weight wise.

Total days was around 100 ,from memory, without me checking my diary...

I was most disappointed with potency.

Growing outdoors I have no idea about for autos but even indoors the extra power consumption and what the general consensus see as finicky plants makes them a waste of time and money in my honest opinion...
