Need some help with Sex? No really I do

Recommended Posts

Billigoat unfortunately yes I am going to have to cull....I think I am just asking for trouble. If I keep 4 of them at even an average yield I should have way more than enough to meet my needs. I would love to give them away but unfortunately I am not sure I can find anyone local to take them.

Hey Itchybro yeah I know where you mean but I couldn't tell shit from it...I'll just have to keep an eye on it

Okay you two enough of the love fest over the nails...next time "I'll paint em up for ya" lol hahahaha

Unless I want to be driven from my home by a chainsaw bringing them inside is pretty close to marital suicide,

Thanks for the comments will give it another week and see if I can't work it out. Going on past couple of grows I am going to know by the end of this month for sure what is what. Just managed to get rid of one to a neighbour..one down 2 to go

Thanks Lookinggoodguys

I have just been searching the plants and have managed to find white pistils of various sizes on all but one plant. It has grown a bit quicker and has elongated spaces between branching and nodes. I can not see anything in the way of Pistils it was number 4 in the last picks...if any I would say that is a male and the rest females. But will be more than happy if its a girl...although the other two in the trench are both girls so if I have to cull I may cull that one and give my other two plenty of room.

Edit: it was number 4 in the last picks not number 5

Hey ItchyBro

I agree with you number 5 is a girl as I can find pistils on other parts this morning easily and with the two girls in the trench identified that gives me three girls. I have given one plant away so I am down to three left, one of which is experimental, So that leaves the monster in the large 100L pot and another Shiva in a 30L pot. As of this morning the big one in the pot is showing what appear to be pistils so now I pretty much know what I am keeping and what I am culling and it will end up being the centre plant in the trench as that will give my other two plenty of room to stretch. In the end not a bad result as I suspect the plant in the centre of the trench is male...it looks different and is stretching faster, elongated between nodes...appears to have a slightly different flower structure. So I will have given one away and one was male  and I will ditch the last female bringing me back to 4, two in the trench and two in Pots.

Thanks Everyone for the help and will post an update when it is clear if I made the right choices...about another week.

Now I can work on maximising the growth of the two girls in the ground...

You really need to get in there with a magnifying glass or loupe to be sure.  Should be fairly obvious if you can do that though with the plants at that level of development (caveat - some plants don't really preflower, but they are rare).  Basically, if there are pistils coming out the tips of the preflowers, it's a girl, if not, it's most likely a boy, especially if they look a little like a crab claw or are on a little stalk.  But the pistils are a certainty unless you have a hermie.

I saw pistils on one pic, but just couldn't be sure on the rest.

Max

Get some mulch on those beds would be a good start Max

mix some lucerne ( alfalfa ) hay with some barley or pea straw

Masters & bunnings have both i think but better off at a stock

feed supply if ya can find one , much cheaper

( if it can be organic feed store , would be better , but that's just me )

do you have any kelp meal ? you can make your own version of seasol

Easy rehydrate the kelp in water letting it sit for 30min to an hour ( 1 cup water , 1/2 cup kelp ),

once hydrated put it in a blender & puree & that's it

1 tablespoon per gallon / 4lts for soil drench & 2 teaspoons & strain for foliar

store re hydrated kelp in back corner of fridge what's not used
