The budget tighter than a pair of hipster jeans.

Recommended Posts

I thought it could be fun to do a little online shopping with anybody who would like to offer any advice to a new comer. Maybe the more veteran participants could shed some light as far as cost-saving measures and keeping the overall set up cost to a bare minimum.

Scenario. A first time grower intending on cultivating 2 plants in a small space such as a cubbord or hidebox etc on a very limited budget.

The grower has seed in hand and a very light fist full of $50 notes.

To plant today, what items are required on the spot, and what items can be floated to later date of purchase to keep the initial buy in low? What items should be scavenged or fabricated DIY and what items warrant proper investment and allocation of funds?

I'm sure in the somewhat near future i will have a few nice shiny goodies that I can consider my pride and joy, but right now I need to consider more realistic and attainable goals, and if that means buying a beginner light, pump, fan or what have you, then so be it!

What does the community think? How little a budget is too little?

Ta!

Just don't skimp on ventilation and you should be able to manage a hand watered grow in a 2 door wardrobe with a 400 watt hps (a 250 will do as well but why not go 400 I reckon).

You need.

Good fan for exhaust

Carbon filter for smell (exhaust fan will suck through this)

400 watt HPS ballast, globe, and reflector (or whatever light you choose)

Fan for intake

Pot/s

Medium (Cana Terra is easy for beginners, just lookout for over watering)

Nutrients (Veg nutes, flower nutes (Canna terra range if you go with that as a medium), and pk 13/14).

Something to measure pH with.

Wardrobe or something else to grow in.

The flower nutes and pk 13/14 can be bought when you need them. I may have forgotten some things but I'm sure someone will pitch in.
