2nd grow 2015/16

Recommended Posts

Oops. Try again.

Hi all I'm back with my 2nd attempt at growing and I have to say it's been fun again. I've been playing around with LST topping and stem pinching. A few of my plants this year had a bad start and are stunted I have 5 though that went fine I think they are going well. I need help with germination that's where I go wrong every time.

The 5 that are going well are unknown as to the strain. I used bag seeds again.

As I told you guys in my other post I had a few accidents with my biggest one like breaking a whole crown off, breaking stems etc i was freaking out at first but it seems the plant took it on the chin and grew more lol. I took all the tie downs off a few days ago to let the plants stretch out a bit. Today I applied a little more tying down to the big girl to expose the middle to more light. I'm not sure if I'm tying down correctly. From what I understand i just bend main stems down to force the lower leaves to grow up into crowns. It became a mess quickly lol. I've pruned some big fan leaves off too for less shade to those smaller sites plus cleaned up dying/dead leaves from below. I found also that bugs are a lot more of a problem with a tie down plant. I bought eco oil concentrate and make my own mix and drench them once a week seems to be keeping them at bay so far only had to do a major prune once on it I found a few leaves that were curled up and peeling them open there was a creamy/webby type of stuff on the leaves which I just got rid of. Been fairly bug free since.

The red pot has been topped twice late both times. It kind of reminds me of my plant last year not really touching that one just let it go.

The little one in a star pattErn was started late October and I tied it all down today. That's had topping done 3 times on it.

The rest are just ones I'm punishing to see how far I can push them. Learning plants i call them lol. One I fully broke the main stem purposely and taped it up a few others have had only HST done on them

Medium is Scotts organic seed raising mix and perlite mixed in. powerfeed and a potash additive that I used last year they love it every day. once a week plain water.

Here are some pics so far. Merry Xmas to all !

Thanks for the kind words guys merry Xmas to you as well.

RSR yeah they'll be staying in pots this year the red one is almost root bound it's not as deep as the others it'll get transplanted soon the rest are in 40+ lt pots they should be fine it saw me out last year the big round one.

Should I keep tying down or stop now? I'm not sure when to stop.

Next year I want to get a raised garden bed so it will be like an in the ground grow I want to try and raise some big ones. Something similar to your tanks.

Yeah its a lot more involving than last year for sure but it already looks like I would have at least doubled what I yielded last year.

In the ground this year definently not, next year though I'm thinking a raised garden bed with a scrog type screen because this year constantly tying and effing around is annoying I figure scrog does the same thing the net just keeps the stems down?

It rained heavy last night I wanted to do some more lst today but the stems are too crunchy when they're wet don't want to break them. Might do some more tomorrow and post pics.

Hello everyone again some updates since my last post.

i tied down some more combined with stem pinching on my big girls, theyve grown heaps since my last post. IM not sure if i want to release all the ties by the end of the week and let them grow out on their own or keep tying any advice?

Heres some pics say hi to the owner of the plants in the background hehe. One of them has weird discolouration on the 1 fan leaf, this happened on this particular plant once before i just took the leaf off and none of the others were affected it kept going strong, its reappeared again, I looked at a plant deficiency chart that i found here i was thinking calcium or magnesium maybe?

Could it just be normal the plant has used what it needs from that leaf and is dying now? Last year when that was happening to my leaves they were turning yellow, didnt look anything like this. Eitherway the plant seems to be going just fine and I could be worried about nothing but still want to know what it could be...

Thanks everyone in advance.
