New grower - my first plant's development (growth) very slow

Can I ask you guys why there is the general recommendation that HPS are good for vegetative state (or the whole grow)) and MH for flowering? These are just the principle how the lights work. Isn't more important what type of bulb for them I use?

 

Eg, I have E40 Base 250W Metal Halide Lamp for use with Mercury Ballast without Ignitor; BT100 Bulb; 4200K; Ra75; 20000lm; 15k hrs; Burning Pos. Any

 

And the other one

SYLVANIA HSL-BW 400W E40 Wattage (W) 400 Cap / Base E40 Voltage (V) 135 Luminous Flux (Lm) 22200 Colour Code 540 Colour Temperature (K) 3900

 

The difference in Color temp (K) is minimum. (I presume that the second one is HPS, but may be wrong actually)

The plants prefer a blue color spectrum during veg and more red during flower... You can use a HPS for veg it will work fine but MH is a little better.. Generally its MH for veg and HPS for flower.. You can also get HPS in full spectrum which is designed for both.

 

The second one you mentioned is MH

Guys, is this stuff basically what you call "coco coir"? I'm a little confused because there isn't the word "coco" mentioned..

Thanks for the quick answer. How should I process it? I want to mix it with normal soil. Should I just "hit" it with my hoe and it will shatter and I can mix it?

Nah man u need a laundry bucket or a wheelbarrow or something along those lines and you break it up into bits pour water until its saturated u watch it in the space of about half an hour to an hour expand. Youll know when its ready its fluffy when moist. Then you can mix it with your soil use it on its own whatever.

Id get that one but remember that contains nutrients already. If you want the best coco id suggest going to the hydro shop because its clean coco no flush required and its completely nutrient free so you have full control.

Put a brick in a pillow case and put it in the bath or a bucket. It will it expand. Then rinse the expanded coco well. Should be pretty good to go.
