They don't actually, that's why I let it flower out cause they weren't interested - they chew on the cat grass quite often though.

 

and yes I was reading something similar but from what i've read it's a 50/50 chance your cat will be affected by the catnip.

they once showed interest in a pre-made catnip toy so that's why I went and tried the live stuff.
