Hiya itchy , swifty :peace: Taking all this in here, interested in your question re aloe and coconut itchy..what's the go there?

Peace and good growing

Faith :sun:

Hi faith, both of these are rich with enzymes and interesting phytohormones that are definitely worth a look at.

Both contain salicylic acid - Systemic acquired resistance (SAR) is a mechanism of induced defense that confers long-lasting protection against a broad spectrum of microorganisms. SAR requires the signal molecule salicylic acid (SA) and is associated with accumulation of pathogenesis-related proteins, which are thought to contribute to resistance.

I don't have aloe info on hand it is interesting stuff though and itchy would have something to share I reckon. I'm not doing it much justice sorry it has been a while since I ventured down that rabbit hole.

Faith :sun:

Hey Faith

when you think about it the Coconut is just an F'ing big seed full of life to get a coconut tree germinated

one thing we are chasing , found in coconuts & corn seed Is Cytokinins

Nature of Cytokinins:

Cytokinins are compounds with a structure resembling adenine which promote cell division and have other

similar functions to kinetin. Kinetin was the first cytokinin discovered and so named because of the compounds

ability to promote cytokinesis (cell division). Though it is a natural compound, It is not made in plants, and is

therefore usually considered a "synthetic" cytokinin (meaning that the hormone is synthesized somewhere other

than in a plant). The most common form of naturally occurring cytokinin in plants today is called zeatin which was

isolated from corn (Zea mays).

Cytokinins have been found in almost all higher plants as well as mosses, fungi, bacteria, and also in tRNA of many

prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Today there are more than 200 natural and synthetic cytokinins combined. Cytokinin

concentrations are highest in meristematic regions and areas of continuous growth potential such as roots, young

leaves, developing fruits, and seeds (Arteca, 1996; Mauseth, 1991; Raven, 1992; Salisbury and Ross, 1992).

Cytokinin Functions

A list of some of the known physiological effects caused by cytokinins are listed below. The response will vary

depending on the type of cytokinin and plant species (Davies, 1995; Mauseth, 1991; Raven, 1992; Salisbury and Ross, 1992).

  • Stimulates cell division.
  • Stimulates morphogenesis (shoot initiation/bud formation) in tissue culture.
  • Stimulates the growth of lateral buds-release of apical dominance.
  • Stimulates leaf expansion resulting from cell enlargement.
  • May enhance stomatal opening in some species.
  • Promotes the conversion of etioplasts into chloroplasts via stimulation of chlorophyll synthesis.

Aloe Vera has been used for years on burns & bites & used by many medicine men but what we'er chasing are , salicylic Acid ,

Saponins & triggering SAR & HAR response

salicylic Acid (SA) : Salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is involved in local and systemic plant defense responses against pathogens.

It plays a role during stresses such as drought, chilling, heavy metal toxicity, heat, and osmotic stress. SA can volatilize

and warn neighboring plants of attack

Saponins , Sorry mate can't find my saponins stuff so here's a C & P on aloe vera

The ten main areas of chemical constituents of Aloe vera include: Amino Acids, Anthraquinones, Enzymes, Minerals,

Vitamins, Lignins, Monosaccharide, Polysaccharides, Salicylic Acid, Saponins, And Sterols. Amino acids found in Aloe vera

include: Isoleucine, Leucine, Lysine, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Threonine, Valine,And Tryptophan. Some Of The Other

Non-Essential Amino Acids Found In Aloe Vera Include Alanine, Arginine, Asparagine, Cysteine, Glutamic Acid, Glycine,

Histidine, Proline, Serine, Tyrosine, Glutamine, And Aspartic Acid. Enzymes include Amylase, Bradykinase, Catalase, Cellulas,

Lipase, Oxidase, Alkaline Phosphatase, Proteolytias, Creatine Phosphokinase and Carboxypeptidase. Aloe veraalso contains

Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12 along with Choline, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Manganese, Chromium, Selenium.

Additional elements found in Aloe vera include Copper, Iron, Potassium, Phosphorus, And Sodium. Aloe vera is a nutrient

accumulator like Alfalfa, Kelp, Comfrey, etc. meaning that you get the full panorama of Elements needed by a plant. What

separates any plant material from another are the Secondary Metabolites that they contain. If you only wanted Elements then

it really wouldn't matter which of the accumulators you used. Sure - some plants will have a higher profile on this or that but

across the board Alfalfa meal could be used in lieu of kelp meal were it not for their specific compounds. Alfalfa = Triacontanol

or Kelp meal = Alginic acid and the other plants will have their own specific compounds that they manufacture. In the case of

Aloe vera you have two compounds that are important - Saponins and Salicylic acid. You've probably seen references to using

Willow shoots and this rooting compound - well this is the same one that you can use but in higher amounts. Saponins are

usually promoted as a surfactant or wetting agent which is true. But their role is far more complex as it relates to triggering a

plant's innate defense systems - System Acquired Resistance (SAR) and Hormonal Acquired Resistance (HAR).

ab so lute ly my friend  make your own lacto & ferment & you have the 2 products i just posted about , well not exactly but close enough

plus if your a cloner post-50689-0-11029000-1447315160_thumb.jpg

ps not my clones

C&P

"look up "how to fillet aloe" and take 1/4 cup of aloe fillet, blend add to foliar water right before spraying. It begins to ferment into acetic acid (vinegar) about 20 minutes

later so be quick. To apply to soil you can just blend up 1/4 cup without filleting. You can also add this to a botanical tea but the fermenting thing applies here too.

To be clear, fresh aloe for use in foliar application you need to fillet and for soil application you don't. Filleting for foliar is important because the blended plant matter can clog sprayers. "

Itchybromusic, that was a good info bomb. Have you noticed shorter flowering times with any of these inputs? I am to inconsistent and some what of a brown thumb to be honest to be able to say fosure.

Thanks for the links, look forward to trying that coconut water especially :D I'm drinking aloe powder(100x spray dried) and can honestly say it freshens me up, helps with hangovers and dehydration well. Learning organics is a great way to improve your health eh.

Sorry I'm new and you don't know me but have you got a journal itchy? i need some inspiration because I'm kind of failing with reading my plants and when to water , it makes me want to give up altogether.

Hey Swftroml

I haven't been into the system long enough to see shorter flower times , although i do have a theory on longer flower times ,

& have not seen to many no till growers mention anything along those lines

Organics is a great way to better health because , sounds a bit weird but , when you see plants looking really good after getting in to the no till system you realise the inputs i'm using

like your own compost & castings , what you put in them have such a big roll to play that you want them to be better & how do you make them better , you eat better , start looking at were your food came from

is it sprayed , am i now putting this in to my compost to possibly be smoking later ??????  , buying organic is not always cost effective so the next step is grow your own organic produce

then your a step closer to a closed loop system , meaning everything you eat everything you use to grow that food ( nutrients ) comes from your land , growing comfrey , alfalfa ect

things you use to help protect your crops you grow & manufacture , lastly anything that leaves your land will bioremediate back into nature & not screw the environment or your neighbour

I don't have a diary i'm sorry i'm to lazy but sounds like you need a system to follow maybe , so check out this one it's all based on Coot's workings & keep in mind , keep you pots going after a grow

& use again , it will only get better plus why kill the life you've just created in the soil , top dress & keep going http://buildasoil.com/pages/the-complete-system

It makes perfect sense itchy and what a wonderful cycle to be caught up in. I May have to live vicariously through you, cc and the like until I get my shit together. My veggie garden is pathetic also :( sorry I'm a downer but I feel I just suck at life. I'm trying water only through blumats in CC's mix, I have tried them before in coco with miracle grow plus silica and struggled dialling in and then slime blocking the lines, I just went back to hand water in the end. So please wish me luck with this round, total stranger lol

I will save the link thanks itchy, bye.
