Dr Pot - Deregistered doctor Andrew Ketalaris

I attended a medical cannabis workshop recently and heard Ketalaris speak.  Found his talk engaging and very educational, clarified a lot of what I've read as well covering new ground for me.

 

I subsequently come across this interesting article on Ketalaris which is part 4 of a series looking at the medical cannabis debate.

 For me after meeting him i dont like him as a person.

 

In saying that i will stand with him for the cause any day.

Yer cant dispute his passion

Im not a fan of him personally

Writing phantom scripts for himself to abuse

Thats my concern, bit hard to trust some1 who has abused his position

Claiming deregistration was due to his continued research into cannabis as a medicine

He is doing more than alot of people

Thc-a and cbd for the poor kids with drug resistant epilepsy

I think you'll find his licence to practice was restricted over the of prescribing various drugs and the destruction of a drug register.

 

He was later deregistered for failing to submit to the conditions imposed on his licence to practice, prescribing cannabis to patients, and administering it to himself.

 

He's not an easy guy to like... so it's a good thing that you don't have to like a person to appreciate what they are doing.

I've only read of him from articles, before, never about his character.  It sounds like he might be a bit of a prick, maybe that's what it takes to fight the good fight, in public...

People are very complex and cannot be adequately described by any one characteristic, be that attitude, self awareness, behaviour, likeability ... and one characteristic does not necessarily negate another.

On a personal level, I think Peter Garratt is a prick with no backbone and have held that opinion of him since 1984. This does not stop me from enjoying the music of Midnight Oil, although I have a snigger now and then over some of the lyrics vis-à-vis the actions of Peter Garratt as an aspiring politician.

I think that's a general rule of life.  If we held everyone accountable for their negative characteristic, none of us would talk to anyone.  It's all graded and I was simply going by what you and others wrote... Sounds like he's a bit of a prick.

 

I don't suddenly disagree with his stance on and work in cannabis.
