Sick Plant Recovery........ Hopefully

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

I had a bit of a dig in the pot today as it had stopped raining and the sun was out.  The plant loved the sun and followed it all day.

I found some small (max 2mm long) bugs crawling around, they all crawled straight back into the dirt.  I don't think they liked the light.

Shoulf I be looking for somthing specific?

Let the medium dry out a little and keep her in the shade, cease feeding them the teas for atleast a week. They arent lacking nitrogen. You should then treat the medium with neem or order azomax online and drench the soil to deal with the pests. If using neem you may have to reapply once a week or so at as much as double strength of the application rates on the bottle. Eco-neem from bunnings. Azomax is probably a better solution to your pest issue. Would transplant her into a 10>12 ltr pot into searles potting mix around the same time you apply the neem or azomax, is that a gallon pot?. Seasol wouldnt hurt (bunnings), its de-stressing. If you can find neem in a powdered form you could add it to the searles mix you transplant into. Keep it simple at this point in time, no need to over-complicate things. Hope i didnt over-complicate things lol. :/

lets see if we can turn her into a bush...... i'll tag along for the ride. Once she is on the mend she will need a righteous pruning..... i'll give you some tips.

take it easy,

Hi Guys, sorry for the absence but I have been sick and I have also been trying to recover my password from Gmail.  All sorted now so it’s time for an update.

I have treated the roots for pests; I went with Bio Oil in the end as it was in Bunnings, Thanks Louise.  I let it dry out and kept it in the shade, as you suggested Puff Tough, before treating.

Today I re-potted it with Premium Organic potting mix and checked the roots as I did it.  I could not see any bugs, and I got rid of nearly all the old soil.  Once in the pot I gave it a good drink of rain water and Seasol.

Photos below are from today straight after the repot.  The second photo shows some new growth.  There is also very small growth starting between the main stem and branches, right at the joint.  lol, pun intended.

I think I need to do some pruning soon, any advice on what and how much will be greatly appreciated.
