It appears that cannabis roots grow differently according to their gender, and that a complex set of genetic interactions determines them both. A study into hemp varieties in Russia demonstrated that if young cannabis plants were cut off above the root, processed as cuttings and then kept in an aerated nutrient solution, with all new roots cut off as soon as they appeared, 80-90% of the cuttings would develop into male plants. If the roots were allowed to regenerate, 80-90% of the cuttings would develop as females.

 

The researchers also treated the de-rooted cuttings with 6-benzylaminopurine, a synthetic cytokinin (plant hormones that facilitate cytokinesis, or cell division) that is known to be involved in cell division and differentiation, as well as overall growth and development. Treated cuttings developed in 80% female plants. This strongly suggests that cytokinin production in the roots plays a strong role in sex determination in cannabis.

& also from spouting corn seed , blending & mixing with water

 

& you can fem seeds with bananas

In the study they took hemp seedlings, chopped them off and turned them into cuttings. 80-90% then grew into female plants.

 

At the end of the day it would take just as much effort to take clones from a known mother, just thought it was an interesting concept.

hey med 

you talking about banana fem'ing i'll assume 

 

takes 2 weeks but longer is not going to hurt

 

basically you put seeds in a paper bag with banana skins 

you swap out every 2 to 4 days for fresh skins , (quicker swapping in warmer temps)

 

it's my opinion that the Ethylene gas that's is produced by ripening fruit 

feminizes the seed

 

you can use a full banana but it takes longer , 4 to 6wks in a paper bag

 

buy a tea leaf strainer , a lill gadget that has a mesh ball at one end , you squeeze 

the other end together & the ball opens to put tea inside , or in this case seeds 

 

put ya skins at the bottom of the bag , putting the wet side of the skin down & away from 

the seeds but not against the paper , put ya tea strainer with seeds in on top of the skins , fold the open end over a few times 

to close the bag , let it sit in a warm spot at room temp 

 

not always consistent with 100% fems but usually in the 90's , 

i think you can get it more consistent at 100% with a better sealed 

holding container but the moment you seal a banana skin breaking down in a container 

all sorts of stuff end up on ya seeds , i've had a white / gray fur end up all over seeds 

when you seal like that , paper bag breaths a lill better but does let the ethylene gas out 

 

try & see how ya go , worse case it does nothing & your in the same boat as just starting seeds 

or you get a shit load of girls , worth the try
