Nub DWC PH keeps going up

Recommended Posts

Never done DWC, but hydro is hydro, and root rot is root rot.  Brown slimy roots is likely your problem, root rot can make PH skyrocket almost uncontrollably, and once in your system it's almost impossible to get rid of, best you can hope for is some degree of control.  Personally, if it was me with plants at that early stage, and if it is root rot, I'd bin them, and either thoroughly clean and sterilise the whole hydro system, or preferably bin it and replace it completely.

1st, make sure that's the problem is, which it sounds like it is.  2nd, try to find the cause and eliminate it.  Without seeing your complete setup it's only guesswork, but looks like you've got white buckets, you want black, or at least cover them with something to completely block light from getting into your nutrients, make sure hoses etc are also blacked out.  Res temps are also important, I think it was Ozzy that said 21ish, which is about right, but you certainly don't want it over 22, and lower temps do increase oxygen levels, but too low and it inhibits plant performance.  Some root pics would help with getting advice.  Best of luck

I will post some photos soon, thanks Sir pycho.

The DWC is actually black, i have just painted the lid to try and improve the reflective surface.

The algae was just about covered the res, flushed everything with warm water and bleach.

Rinsed and sun dried.

Gave the roots a 15 minute drown in H2o2.

I have removed all but two plants , the bag seed is doing the best so i left it in plus a skunk#1.

Res is staying clean now just using tap water, light into the res and heat managed better now.

Res temp is under 21c.

Other 3 are out in the sun in coca coir.

Hedging my bets.
