2tonne of lab grade carbon - humidity control?

Recommended Posts

DIY Carbon Filters you tube , don't know what the carbon was used for

but you need to find out if it needs re-activating i think

Sorry mate not a carbon expert , search re-activating carbon

Thanks for your reply itchybromusic! It just seems a waste that all this carbon lays around here when I'd like to make use of it - especially if I can combat humidity.

yep recycle , reuse , up to a point though mate

how much work is in reusing the carbon & at what point dose it become cheaper to buy a new one

& find something else to reuse the carbon for , but hey if your the handyman type , go for it , recycling is a good thing

alright been thinking...it's already here itchybromusic so ill experiment and post on some results. should be easy enough all I need is a couple of cheap temperature/humidity electronic measuring devices $19 each from any hydro shop or hardware store.

if it works then great! if it doesn't well I'm not really wasting anything cause it's doing nothing here anyway.

so I'll start off with an outlet(duct) which is around 10" and reduce it or output it like an octopus using pvc or storm water pipe which I will carve out grooves in exactly like an ago-pipe used to drain water.

then i will cover it with the carbon. should work...i hope.

Ill take pics of the carbon tomorrow.

I'm guessing a split system is out of the question

what temps you running cos as temp increases

humidity decreases , so if your running with low temps

increase them, with in reason of cause

Ps I don't think a carbon filter will decrease humidity for you

split will overdo it - would be nice though.

with all lights on(10x600w) its pushing to 30C. It's when the lights aren't on that will be the problem. 4 weeks veg pushing 70% humidity with lights off. Eventually at those levels mould will kick in. so I am throwing some ideas and maybe someone has had similar experiences. as I mentioned the carbon is already here just wasting space so I figured I'd give a try. do you know how much power a split would use - might be borderline already.

That's a bit full on mate

Make sure of plenty of air movement

also consider being pre-emptive on the mould by finding something

you could spray in veg maybe before you have a prob

what cha in , soil , hydro

don't know what the cost of a split system or dehumidifier is to run but you would be running at lights out

Yeah it is! Hydro this time.

Of course! Thanks I didn't realise that it would run lights out. I'll hunt around for a dehumidifier.

working on air movement as I haven't turned them yet. So pushing shit uphill at the moment. 4th week veg

i fkucked up with regards to placement of the filter thus giving me a dead spot in the room. It's all about movement your right mate. working on fixing it now.

humidity control has to be on top of the list.

Not sure what to spray as a preventive without going to chems for fungus - which I am dead against. I just gave them a dose of hot chilli, onion, garlic, veg oil and cornflower - descent spray as i had some mite.

main problem would be botrytis on the buds from high humidity - so have to get it sorted.

I'll still give the carbon a go as I feel it should absorb moisture. I've done a

Little reading and it looks promising. Only one way to find out I suppose. Although it might be the wrong carbon as its for water filtration.

anything you can recommend in the way of spraying as a preventive? Not sure if Sulfur burners would have an effect as they are mainly used for powdery mildew.

so flow is of the utmost importance for now. Will be working on it tomorrow.
