Is this just another Govenment Test?

Is this another "let's look at it" but not really let the general public know our views.

i just went and had a look at that site and basically from what i gathered about them stepping up their cultivation so they can release mass quantities of Sativex® and with good reasons too.....they dont go into detail but say it would cover a wide range of patient needs..

The Group's lead programme is the development of a product portfolio of non-smoked prescription medicines derived from cannabis, including Sativex®, to meet patient needs in a wide range of therapeutic indications. The Group has also expanded its research to include the use of other controlled drugs in conjunction with its proprietary secure drug dispensing technology.

Is this another "let's look at it" but not really let the general public know our views.

GW have been quite public in the UK, and Sativex is in the final stages of approval so it should be available on prescription later this year. I believe they've started regulatory approval in Canada, and the NSW Government is aware of the company and its products. Bayer is lined up to distribute Sativex.

I guess everyone's in the "wait and see" frame of mind - see what happens in the UK, then Canada, then others will feel comfortable about it. And of course it'll be used as an excuse to delay medicinal marijuana legislation, that a smokeless product is just around the corner, and when it's here there'll be no need for smoked cannabis... but they're wrong.

What it proves is that cannabis actually works, and it's been working for people all along. Sativex will be relatively expensive, but certainly more accessible and easier for some patients to use. However, if herbal cannabis can achieve the same effects and be used in a way that removes the harm associated with smoking (vapourisation) then there will be no valid argument against its use. Some patients will find herbal cannabis cheaper and more accessible - so it will come down to society providing as many alternatives for patients as they do with other drugs, not all drugs work for all people so we like to keep a wide variety of drugs and methods available. If there's essentially no difference between the two, and no harm can be identified when herbal cannabis is used properly with medical grade tools like the Volcano, then it will come down to a legal battle over consumer and human rights.
