Harsh tasting bud

Recommended Posts

Hey lgg,

can you please elaborate on the above?

misshepburn,

Apologies for the thread hijack.

Sorry to hear of your weed woes... you really need to grow. You'll get plenty from help from the guys here at OS :)

For me I rarely come across any commercial weed hardly worth vaping, as it relies more on other senses like smell, flavour, taste because we are extracting essential oils terpenes etc directly to biggest sensor mouth tongue.

I believe that some strains are unpleasant to vape but smoke up well and vice versa, so strain selection is as important and also growing technique.

When I'm testing green bud it has to be pleasant and enjoyable. At the moment this strain is showing those things, very sweet sugary and real nice fruit citrus lemon mint flavour which is strong with deep lingering after taste and high.

When I get to flushing stage or finishing stage it still needs to maintain as much flavour taste aroma as possible without being too harsh to smoke or vape due to removing to many sugars.

So what is pleasant to vape may not be for the smoker. By vaping at different stages you get to see overall how things are progressing and can tell on how strong the nutes your using, if it is killing flavour or if it's not balanced acidic.

For me taste, flavour and balanced oils hitting the tongue (not too acidic bitter) with a good uplifting high is what I try to achieve and not overly focused on yields as the target at the end.

Growering cannabis for vaping requires a different approach and is a little more involved along the way, but worth it when you get it right or get lucky.

Once again just my 2 cents..

could be anything mate check out this shit i got last year in perth I found super salt crystals left over from no flush + PGR - https://cannabis.community.forums.ozstoners.com/topic/27270-wtf-are-they-contaminating-our-buds-with/?p=437689 and check out the rest of that post too!

Ewwww!!! It did look similar to that in colour. Thankfully I only had a very small amount of it. Won't be getting any more from that batch!

I felt at first like I was going to have a heart attack, of course I kept telling myself Id be okay). It was quite unpleasant but eventually went away. I am very very sensitive to chemicals so I wouldn't be surprised if I had some reaction. Am researching PGR now, doesnt look good!

Very counterintuitive when using MJ for a chronic illness and you get the opposite of the desired effect. Hit or miss with commercial weed.

I wish I had taken a photo to show you all (but i threw the remaining roach away). Definitely has the characteristics of PGR. Looked similar to those photos you posted The Stoned Jester!

Perth is very bad for weed (as the laws there are strictest in the country). First time I have come across this gross stuff in Melbourne (although I haven't been living here long).

I've never vaped but that seems illogical ?

Vaporizers don't liberate as much stuff from the plant material as combustive methods do which changes the high, taste, smell, etc.  In most cases from my experience it's only minimal but I've had a few plants that seemed worlds apart between the methods like a c99 I had a few years back.  In the vape it tasted like pineapple syrup and was very head high dominant which gradually wore off but remained entirely in the head but when smoked in a joint tasted like sour pineapples with a hint of bubblegum and lots of hash and the high started in the head but wore off into a couch lock body stone that really felt dirty compared to the come down from vaping.  You could tell it was similar but I would have honestly guessed it to be a sibling from the same batch of seeds and not from the same plant because of how different it was.  I've had a few others like a skunk#1 that seemed way more potent when smoked but was otherwise the same when vaped, a few where the high is the same but the taste or smell different, etc.  For the most part though vapes produce the same high, give the same tastes, etc. but without the smokey taste masking things and the oomphy feeling you get in the lungs from smoking it which makes them taste and feel cleaner to use.
