Hey, I have fucked around with coco peat before, but I don't like it personally as a medium. Mostly because I'm in an area where Scarid Fly (Fungus Gnat) is plentiful, and man, do they luuuuuuuurve that coco!

I would be using a run-to-waste system with coco, not a recirculating one, as slim here has pointed out lol I've used it straight, and mixed with perlite. I found when I mixed it with the perlite, it was less soggy and didn't keep as much water.

Hey slim, if you're gonna go for a perlite/vermiculite mix, I'd go 70/30 or 60/40........ Vermiculite holds a fair bit more water than perlite, and tends to go soggy too.

Personaly I like coco I use a 60/40 mix with perlite and I also have an inch and a half of clayballs at the bottom of the pot to allow better drainage, mj roots hate to have wet feet in coco ,

I run to waste with my setup but it is allot more expencive to do than recirculating , a few people I know recirculate with coco peat with no issues, your gonna wanna watch the amount of coco residue that goes back into the res though, also be sure to give your coco and or clayballs a good wash before using it
