Hey Micmac,

 

Okay fantastic! So you keep them alone in the air tight container? You don’t mix them with rice or anything?

 

Yeah I just want to be able to keep them for 5 years or so tops. I’ll cycle through them before then anyway I’d hope haha

I put seeds in vials or bags then in a seelsed container with a little rice ,then on bottom shelf of fridge door ,,,

 

Crisper works good if you don't end up with forgotten rotten veggies.

leaving them cold is supposed to not only keep them alive longer but give quicker and better germination rates when taken from cold to warm ,,,something about tricking them into thinking winter is over . In any case I want my seeds to be as fresh as can be.

I think that is the reasoning for the world seed vault being the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen

How do you guys store seeds, clear container in the fridge?

I use an old school black film canister, best not to have them exposed to light. And store in the fridge.

+1 the black film canisters , cheap as chips on ebay I love collecting seeds! not just canna either I collect flowering plants , chillies , heirloom variety vegies etc 

My canna seed collection consists of stuff from over 40 dif breeders so far but the ones I am most looking forward to growing outdoors are
