ONE in six drivers in rural NSW have tested positive for being under the influence of drugs in random testing.

OFFICERS conducted almost 2000 random drug tests in the state's major rural towns over the past six weeks with 314 tests returning positive results.

Newcastle had the highest number of drivers under the influence of drugs, with 152 of 720 tests flagging illicit substances. Almost half the drivers tested in Orange returned positive readings along with a third of those in both Richmond and Queanbeyan. Statewide, one in every 13 tests this year has returned a positive result, with 72 per cent of these revealing cannabis use and almost 50 per cent showing the presence of ice. Roadside drug testing is set to triple to 97,000 by 2017 to combat the problem.

Yeah, we do :D

But I had no idea there were so many people driving under the influence! Watch out if you're passing through Orange, sounds dangerous lol

Yes a lot of people have drugs in their systems but we cannot measure how much it actually impairs the driver... That's why the the drug testing ideology is flawed. Just zero tolerance mentality by the cops will only revenue raise funds for the Government without actually stopping people using drugs. They are hoping that being caught and going to court will stop people using recreational drugs..

I would say this has been the average right across Australia for sometime...

It's like metadata the more tools you have to peel the layers back the more you discover about your citizens and the need fix curb these morally corrupted people.. Very dangerous territory ...

You only have to look at the rise of right wing extreme racist protesting of late to see how things could get ugly here in Oz and those Christians influencing Government policy.

1 in 6 drivers testing positive... but last week there was an article on how 1 in 3 positives is a false positive.... I wonder if that has been factored into the stats the cops are quoting for this article?

Exactly Louise , by law they should have to publish the result of false positives when running these stories.. Really doesn't give you a true picture.. But they wouldn't like to do that.. One way street.

Gotta say... John Safran really missed the point. That is the softest, soft cock response I have seen from anyone regarding UPF and Reclaim.

Yeah, there are non lily white people at these rallies... but how does that stop it from being a racist assembly? How can singling out and maligning one particular ethnic identity be considered anything else.

It really shouldn't be a cause for confusion.
