Outdoor coco attempt. Advice please

Recommended Posts

Evening all.

I'm in the planning stage for the coming seasons outdoor grow, and I'm after some advice from the guru's.

Last season I grew out bush in some too shallow holes filled with some composted horse poop. Since it was my first real go at growing the plants really suffered. I ended up with two 4.5 foot tall females and got about 5oz of dried pretty decent but fluffy buds. these are some pics of my two plants

This year I've ordered some SSS rather than using bag seed. So I'm wanting to do it as right as possible. Planning on cracking the seeds in a little hotbox type planter box using jiffy pots or something similar

Coco in sunken 30-40litre pots look to be the way I'm going this year with some coco a+b nutes (I didn't use nutes last year). And some pea mulch over the top.

Is there a difference between a premium bunnings bought coco and a hydro shop coco like Nutrifield?

Would mixing horse poop in be of any use? Like 70% coco 30% poop? Or am I missing something like perlite?

Thanks for taking time to read through this idea in motion. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I did 8 plants outdoors last year had 4 x 15 litre pots and 1 x 4 l and 1 x 50 l 1x 30 l and 1 x 65 l pot . Only ever had to water 2 x day for the extreme heat but other than that it was my best yield to date and I would be lucky to ever beat those numbers again. Coco in pots is fine I will be doing the same again outdoors this year but won't let them get to 7 ft in the back yard again lol

Hey Stix.

Did you do anything special with you coco mix? What sort of nutes did you use? Did you have a grow diary for me to scour through?

Any other advice for a newbie?

Thanks for popping in with your info.

hey Torrie

those plants are under watered.

makes me think that your under-performing plants just needed more liquids

another grower here saw incredible increases in harvest just by putting in a irrigation system  - it could be that simple
