Need help/info on few things - growing area / soil / roots.

Ok so as the title suggests need some info about how the plant grows into the soil and size of growing area.

 

due to height restrictions in my cupboard I want to come up with a solution for the pot size.

 

I suppose the main question is can I substitute depth with length? will the plants roots grow sideways if there isn't enough room to go down?

 

because then I can make a scrog net nice and low without burning the tips.

any ideas?

It may work, I would think so in theory at least some degree. Unsure how well the plant will produce. I do find best results from a deep pot as opposed to a wide one.

 

I understand a deep pot can't be used in your situation.

A cannabis plant will grow on some bird shit between 2 rocks , it'll work & stay short for you as well i think

fill the grow space floor with a SIP Sub Irrigation Planter , if space permits of cause 

 

some think having more than 1 plant in a larger pot tends to work better due to both plants 

needing the same requirement / same microbes , 2 plants trying to attract the same biology instead of 1

all comes down to space with you though

Hi Jester, I would probably look at a small reticulation system rather than soil.

 

Have the reservoir on the outside pipped through the side of the wardrobe if possible..

Height of your room would help, and what height you trying to grow

In a nut shell, yes its ok to a point.

Wider pots give busher, deeper plant can get taller.

If your pots are really shallow and wide, then you going to have to deal with root zone issues. Water evap, root temps.

If you drawing is anything to go off, then no.

Have you thought about growing more smaller ones then trying to scrog.

Just sort a method for keeping it wet and like chopper said root temp control with some kind of mechanicl insulation be it whatever....

 

Would make an interesting grow in that a short/wide pot is said to encourage short brancy plants. Roots love to grow horizontally.

 

So I say DO IT!

You could do a sog in 2 litre containers with perlite, but plant numbers will go up. You put one tray in the bottom and you could fit a crap load of plants and get easy to trim fat buds.A good strain to do this with is white widow..

Watching some Jorge Cervantes videos, many growers of 10 pound plants use the wide pot concept rather than depth.

has anyone ever grown canna here using a sub irrigation planter? sounds like could be the way to go.
