First grow. Female or Hermie?

Hey guys!

 

First time poster, long time reader and fan of this great community!

So i checked on my two darlings this morning and suprise! I saw white pistols! I'm all "yayy it's a female!" Whilst doing a one legged hop/dance in the middle of my yard, however upon looking at it again I became unsure if it might possibly be a hermie.. So I snapped some photos hoping you guys can either give me the good news or break my heart!

Yeahp grown from seed, an unknown freeby from a seedbank.

Knowing its the wrong time of year i thought i'd start my cultivation education anyway

The b^&*! hermied on me..

I don't know how but I knew it would.. somehow.. haha..

too much topping me thinks.. and considering it was a freeby from the seed shop didn't help..

topping shouldnt make it go hermy if the strain is stable.

stress can make plants go hermy but there normally F1-F2

 

did you pull it or is it still growing

I would grow it out and pull the male pods - if you can keep onto of the pods. You might be able to spray it with some Colloidal Silver, get some female seeds.

G,day Guys, what you must realize is, is that every "Hermi" is a female that has self produced male pollen that does not contain the male Y cromosone, as a result any seeds produced are 100% female. The seed growers use chemicals to turn females Hermi,  that's how we are able to by Feminized Seeds.

That's not at all accurate.  All plants are hermies and merely expressing a dominant gender which through stress can be altered.  You may end up with seeds that produce female dominant plants using hermie pollen but under their skirts balls are just waiting for their chance to come out and save the day.  Now the breeders if we're lucky will have tested out their leading ladies by giving them multiple stress tests to try and induce hermaphroditism because once they know for example that one lady also throws a banana a week or two after being ready while another won't for well over a month then the first one won't be nearly as safe a bet for them to breed with compared to the second.  That would just be one way they could breed towards keeping bananas out but even still you'll never fully eliminate the ability from the species and eventually hermies will appear because as jurassic park taught us life always finds a way.
