Understanding my seeds

Recommended Posts

I bought seeds from Bonza last year. That's a whole other story.

I have the strange feeling they may be auto's.

Planted two in November, they grew to about 250mm high, then began to flower. Never got any bigger. Are these auto's? If so, when should I plant them? Looking to get them around 1500mm high before they flower.

Sounds odd, even for that far north your longest day should be long enough to prevent flowering until after the New Year. Although I doubt that you would have been provided autos instead of regular seeds.... I'd be looking towards something with the grow conditions.

Father's Day is a suggestion because most areas have low risk of frost by the end of the first week in September.

If you are going to put the plants into the ground I would start in small pots in mid September, planting out once the soil temps are above 15C. If you want to keep the plants in pots, I'd start a little later early to mid Oct...

What strain were they said to be?

If it took them more than 3-4 weeks to go into flower then they're almost definitely photoperiod.  Could have been a few different environmental factors, but strain can play a big part as well.  I had 3 different strains out last season, one started flower beginning of Jan, the others were 4 and 6 weeks behind, so I probably wouldn't be reading too much into it.  Or maybe you got Max's auto beans, and he got your photo's lol

They were chocolate skunk or something.

Not getting into the Bonza topic again.

I just want the plants to flower when they are at least 1.2m tall. Not when they are shorter than a ruler. lol I ended up with one small bud per plant. $12 a seed! Lmfao

I know that 00 seeds does Choc Skunk in both photo and auto, so a mix up is a possibillity, but.

I don't want to put shit on your growing abilities, and really intend no offense, but there is a possibility that only getting 1 small bud per plant could be down to grower error, or environmental conditions, most likely both.  Stuff like over/under watering, ph way out, poor soil/medium, a location with poor direct sunlight, etc.  Me saying this is the pot calling the kettle black, as I've fucked up at a royal level myself, out of a pack of auto seeds I had 2 return 5 grams each, 2 went 1.5-2 oz each, and another 7 oz, and I can look back on the grows and see why they performed differently, and it mostly came down to decisions I made.  The poor performers with 5 grams were overwatered in poor medium in a location with less than ideal lighting, overwatering was down to incessant rain though.  The 7 oz plant was a combination of giving preferable conditions and a bit of a freak plant, so not all me.

In any batch of seeds there's a possibility of a dud or 2, but it's worth trying to be sure that it's not down to grower error, or environment, so that you can learn from any mistakes.
