Newbie grow light question?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've just tried my hand at growing and after a bit of a fizog last season (14/15 managed 5 dry oz's of decent to good smoke) I've decided to try and do this properly this time.

Instead of using random bag seed from a mate I'm going to get some decent quality seeds. Feed it nutes when it needs it

I'm thinking of trying to grow under lights for a 3 weeks or so. Then move them outside and let the sun do its thing.

So the question: is this light any good for a few weeks of veg growth?

Cheers for any help/tips/telling me this has been posted to death and I need to search more.

if youre using these to get a head start on your grow season.. then theres a few things youmight need to know.. one.. imnot sure if these will produce strong enough branching in the early stages of growth to be able to support a massive plant outdoors.. it might.. two.. youll need to match the light times to the outside times before you put the plants out, other wise they will just end up flowering..

another option might be to get a mini greenhouse.. and start them off in there a good month or so earlier.. this will give you a good head start and as people are planting seeds. youll have nice healthy plants almost ready to sex..

Cheers Sukonmiskunk.

I didn't take into account the change back to natural light bringing on flower. Would some garden LeD lights or something like that once they are out bush be a good way to hold off the flowering.

Once they go into flower, I'd be able to sex them? Can I re veg after that?

plants put outdoors from indoors will always go into flower.. its becuase of the light hours difference..

when they start to flower.. depending on the light hours outside, they may continue to flower.. or they will reveg.. obv the earlier in the grow season, the more likely they are to reveg.. but doing this outside.. takes weeks.. like 4-6 weeks.. to start the reveg process.. this ofc defeats the whole purpose... as youll lose any time.. and growth.. youve gained by getting an early start...

so what you need to do it is veg them out on like 16 hours of light.. and slowly drop the light hours every few days until it matches the outside

this is why i say get a mini greenhouse.. this allows the plants to get started 4-6 weeks before normal times.. as the hothouse will keep the frost off the plants.. and give you that extra growth before the season actually starts..

ofc.. another way would be to grow them out indoors.. and chuck them outside when everything else is already flowering to finish them off..

personally i think the whole fucking around with light timers and shit to adjust the light hours to match is just a pain .. it would be much easier to build a mini hothouse.. to fit a few plants in.. this way by the time theyre ready to be put out bush, theyre already matched to the light times.. and aclimatized for outside(sort of).. and they should already be showing sex.. at around the 6-8 week mark, this also assures you only plant the females out bush..
