Male plant changing camps

Recommended Posts

Okay, I think a male plant has been stressed and is throwing girl parts, Is the pollen off this still viable as the plant itself is stressed but the pollen should be determined by the genetics of the seed. The plant has had a hard time adjusting to his new home so Im not surprised. He flipped, I didnt know males could but after reading a bit it's just as possible for a boy to swing as a girl.

Sad to lose him he was my OG good thing.

Yes the pollen should still be viable, but do you want to introduce that sort of weakness to stress in your next generation of plants? A male that throws pistils is as much a 'hermaphrodite' as a female than begins to grow pollen bearing flowers.

Cheers. Yeah makes sense. The genetics in the pollen was under stress when it was formed so the offspring will be off to a bad start. ...

Okay trying again. Thanks for the help.

kind of related...my "current" grow that I treated very poorly had two males show while still under 18/6 lighting.  they were watered very infrequently and were very tall and lanky... not sure if it was stress that brought this on, but certainly no pistils were present.

the rest i put outside and two more males showed.... again, all balls, no pistils.

If It stays all balls then wouldn't that make it a stable male, worth keeping maybe.

Both male and female plants, if kept in veg long enough, will show gender under 18/6 lighting. All it means is that the plants have reached sexual maturity.

At my first opportunity to photograph him by sunlight, I don't see any girl parts here, not sure what I was looking at in the fading light. Here is a shot of him. I had Clippers in one hand camera in the other.
